This one was a total blast to work on. XD Not only did I get a chance to draw a kinkajou once again, but I got to draw her in one of the most iconic costumes from the original Star Wars Trilogy. Eee! Leia Kinkajous, this needed to be a thing and now it is LOL.
This was super fun, such a limited color palette for this pic, only a few shades, but it really did let me have a lot of fun with the character herself. And I love how bright her eyes seem to just pop! ^^
Enjoy guys!

I looked into the Skywalker and Solo family tree and found there are a lot of characters that come later. Also, that there was some interesting history on the Solo family line. I'm not sure what to do. Do I read the books and spoil the movie or do I watch the movie and spoil the books. They both seem really interesting and apparently there is quite a bit of story that comes after Return of the Jedi. I won't mention any of the kids names since they might be spoilers
The thing with making movies from books is, the movies rarely coincide with the books exactly. The movies usually take liberties (cutting stuff out due to time/budget constraints, adding characters where there are none because the director wants to, taking other characters out because the director doesn't think they add anything to the plot, etc) so don't expect the movie to be anything like the books that came after 'Return of the Jedi'.
So if you want to see the movie, I'd suggest not reading any of the books. I've already read the books, but it's been a while so I should be good. Besides, I'm interested in how they do the movie (I really hope they don't pull a TRON Legacy and CGI the cast to make them look younger).

Given the possibility of characters they really have the capacity to do anything with this movie so I hope its good. Hope they cut down on the CGI too. I thought the Henson style puppets of Jaba, Yoda, and other creatures looked and had more expression than any of the CGI stuff later released. The CGI just looked too fake to me.
I agree, the CGI looked way too fake. I am think it's better for the actors as well, since it gives them something to act off of and respond to. From what I saw of it, though, it looks like they're not going to CGI the actors. I saw the promo trailer, and Harrison Ford is awesome. Chewie's back also, so I'm really looking forward to seeing it.
Lol! It's actually not that long XD I kept the character's head rather small to fit her stature, but compared to the size of her hands, it's about the right size for the style Leia has.

Yeah, in fact it's actually a tad shorter than Leia's in the film. She held the grip a little below her shoulder, yet the tip of the barrel still came to somewhere above her head. Yet in this picture, the Kinkajou is holding the grip right at shoulder height. So her blaster is slightly shorter than Leia's. ^^
I think it is a sports blaster. It wasn't particularly powerful but could be broken down into 3 parts for easy concealment and reassembled in seconds. Supposedly it also had good power conservation and had like over a hundred shots before needing recharge. Sort of like .22 caliber pistol in comparison to our large caliber handguns of today. Carrie was small in stature so I'm sure the pistol looked bigger too.
