Its grown steadily. From Salvation army, yard sales, and finding good deals online. I actually have some I have never seen in anyone else's collections so thats pretty cool. I have Lion King and Jungle Book characters. I do plan to start adding Rajah in there eventually but when I get a bigger place. I have room in here but I like to have my collection all on one wall so I can stare at it all. Except the obvious random odds and ends most are Disney. However that one brown lion on top there looks Disney... he isn't. It says Mardi Gras on his tag. So think he is hand made. I'm going to consider making him a custom character since he looks so good.
Also that little cup is Ares. I'm washing his tank so he's sitting there while I clean it. He seems to like Igor which is the one he's next to. I got Igor a bigger tank now that matches Ares'. Cuz I hate that lil one. Both are being washed. Once done they will both have nice clean tanks.

I have my Sarabi and she's all I need
have a custom made plushie that's like the blue painting Rafiki made in the tree, I think someone on DeviantArt made it.
Not interested in most of the adult Simbas because very few get him right. The only one I'm hankering for *some day* is the five foot tall Douglas one, but there's only 14 in the world and most are in the UK and would cost around $800 to ship to US, let alone the price of the plush

I've been meaning to get the Sarabi puppet. Just cuz I don't have any Sarabi. Since alot of music boxes with her and Mufasa on it... I think will get one of the nice ones someday.
Also love the Douglas 5 footer. I heard there were 15 made but 1 no one knows the location of. Probably got destroyed. I know one person who has two of them. And they got the second one cuz they were driving by just as some workers were dragging the mangled carcass out to toss in a dumpster. Workers were happy to just be rid of the thing. They gutted it and took out the mangled metal frame, washed the shell, then restuffed him with just fluff. So now they have a store original and a cuddle version. XD
I've also seen a custom life sized Scar that was pretty good. Though I plan to one day start making my own plushies. So might someday make a life size of most of the characters. I'm a stickler for details so I would make a bunch of small ones till it looks accurate then blow up the patterns.

That's the one I have, pretty big, got mine for 40, some people try to get 80-100 but most go for 20-30, but I'm happy to pieces with mine for cuddle purposes, best investment ever
If you ever custom make any adult Simbas, I'm definitely gonna commission one from you
oops, meant to reply to other comment, oh well

I usually only see the Sarabi that price when she has the cub Simba with her. Anything less than that always has him missing and sometimes she has some sort of damage to her.
I just bought a $99 but she is undamaged, has cub Simba, comes with the Simba/Mufasa matching her, and free shipping. So think its a good deal. Plus can't tell from the thing but may come with a big Nala or that fourth pic was a mistake in the ebay listing. Oh well. I just want the Mufasa/Simba and Sarabi with cub Simba. I already have the Nala that was in the fourth picture by herself.

Well Ares is a red crown tail. And he is just full of piss and vinegar. Igor.... is exactly what the name implies. I adopted him from a Petco. Cuz they could no legally sell him since he is deformed. But they put him on the shelf in the back with the other betta so he would still get fed. Personally I thought he was adorbs! Everyone else was like wtf is that! So took him home. He is my Igor. He has a hunched back, pot belly, the fins on his left side are smaller than his right, and the top of his head is sort of caved in. But it doesn't seem to hinder him at all. He thinks he's hot stuff. So he is my favorite. XD I also have Midus the gold dragon scale plaket betta, Barsoom my hyperventilating curls in a ball and sinks when he is scared of everything boy, and Sky my blue crown tail who is just a gorgeous little peacock.
I've had a few die young. Sometimes its genetics. I found certain stock just is bad breeding. The younger smaller you buy the fish the more fragile they are. Larger older ones tend to be more hardy. But most of mine die of old age. I've got a box of medication for just about everything. Cuz I've had fish with just about every ailment. Even lost one due to dropsy. I ended up euthanizing him myself cuz dropsy is incurable and is a very painful way to die. He was an older fish. Probably only a year left in him if he hadn't fallen ill. It was hard... but it was better than what would have happened to him if I had let the disease take him.
Sounds like you're good with fish. Have you ever thought of working in a pet store? And yeah, it's difficult to put down animals when you have to. My dog is only 10 yrs old, but he has hip dysplasia and severe arthritis in his hips. I have a bottle of prescription pain meds for him, when he's in too much pain to walk. He has good days and bad days. I need to have him put to sleep, but just don't want to do it. :-/
Only pet store around here is family run... my family used to own all kinds of animal farms... but the generation before me sold it all.
And the cat rescue and the dog pound here are just horrible. But little town... so not much here.
My uncle finally put their female Yellow Lab Honey down just a few weeks ago. She had the same thing really bad. But she wasn't even 10 yet I think. However she was a breeder dog. Who unfortunately had 14-15 pup litters. Didn't take long to do damage so they stopped breeding her after just two litters and turned one of her pups into a stud. Rock Star is the biggest Lab I have ever seen. But poor Honey was a tiny thing herself. Damage was done. Plus she had allergies so she would start getting itchy and getting bald spots come summer. And dog asthma. She was a mess. A happy dog though.
But yeah. Always sad to lose a pet. Even my fish I get sad about. They each have their own personalities. But I think these will be my last fish.. atleast till I get a house where I can have a real fish tank. Instead of 1 gallons with Bettas. XD Then I might think about getting fish again.

Small towns are no place for young people! I hope you at least have a big city nearby. My dog also has bad allergies and skin problems. Gets horrible hot spots in the Summer if I don't keep him on meds. I think all purebreds are unhealthy. Mutts are much healthier animals. I would never buy a purebred, though my dog is a German Shepherd. One of my coworkers got him at the dog pound and then dumped him off at my house after he bit her boyfriend. Been stuck with him ever since.
I used to have a fish tank; 10 gallon for years, then upgraded to 20 gallon for years after that. I only got rid of it when I moved across the country for a job. I think the aquarium may have been my problem with bettas. Someone told me that they don't do well in an aquarium; that they do better in a fish bowl.

Betta are territorial. But they only patrol small areas. My boys act differently to different stimuli. I put them anywhere from 1 gallons to 3 gallons. But found out of the dozen Betta I have owned that 3 actually had a fear of open spaces when put in the three gallon tank. 1 was a crown tail who was afraid of everything. He would constantly chew on himself out of nervousness. He ended up in the smallest tank I have ever bought. I diamond shaped half gallon. And placed in the bathroom. Small tank, not a lot of traffic in there so he wasn't bothered. Only saw him during feeding time and tank cleanings. I usually would walk a distance on the other side of the bathroom when I took a bath etc. Then another crowntail. Seemed like a confident fish. Put him in a three gallon... immediately started chewing the spikes on his tail. He managed to bite a good half of them off before I could get the net and fish him out. And then my poor hyperventilating veiltail boy I put in. Curled in ball. Sank to bottom. But he doesn't chew on himself which is good. Though I noticed the chewing seems to be a crowntail thing. Sky chewed on himself the first night I got him. But seems to be fine now. He just got the top half of his tail. Veiltail's fins grow back rather well. Most of the time without color loss or odd disfiguring. Crowntails... take forever and if they do end up looking odd compared to their other spikes. Ares doesn't chew. But he's a tiny badass. He's just a baby but he's ready to take on the world. He charges and flairs his gills at my finger.
Had two other fish I put in a 3 gallon that reacted differently. They would get all pouty and throw fits when I would put them in smaller tanks while I cleaned the three gallons. Pangur Ban my white apricot betta would actually swim to the otherside and refuse to look at me... or even eat till he was back in his three gallon. Oceanus would just keep sticking his face against the glass like 'hey.. hey... is it done yet?' He would do the same if I didn't turn his bubbles on in the morning. He'd stare at the column waiting. And would keep turning his head to look at me, the column, me, column. Then press his face against the glass again till I turned it on. Then he'd swim in circles all excited and chasing the bubbles. He's the only one who seemed to even care. Most of the others didn't like the bubbles so I never put them in. Had one that loved to ride his bubbles up then ride his waterfall from his filter down. Ugliest betta I ever had. Including Igor. Hades was bad breeding though. I thought he looked fine if a bit plain. He was just that trout green/brown with clear fins but people I showed pictures of said he was a nasty lookin fish. They were right... he died young. Most of mine build bubble nests too. Which is a sign they are happy. Had one I called Convict who was prison orange with a brown face and hand fins. His nests literally looked like gobs of shaving cream. Apparently that would have made him a studmuffin to lady fish. XD
I've been tempted to get lady fish... but you have to keep them separate till they are ready to breed. The females will KILL the males. Ladies can be put together... but its a russian roulette whether they will like each other. Best to buy ones that already are in the same tank. Even then they could be find for years then suddenly go after each other. So I never made a Sorority tank even though I have two 10 gallons.
Barsoom. My curl in a ball boy. I thought he was a short tail when I bought him. Nope the ladies just chewed the crap out of the poor guy. luckily they only attacked when they could see him. So only when the shipping bucket's lid was off so they only took off his tail. Pet store owner was pissed. I was there when the red bucket of betta arrived. He was not expecting them to arrive all in one bucket. SO he opened it thinking it was a female only bucket. Surprise! Nope. He ran and got as many lil cups as he could finds and started trying to fish each one out to separate them since he couldn't tell male from female right away. I ended up helping by handing him empty cups and taking fish filled ones and placing them on the counter. Unfortunately quite a few boys didn't make it. Barsoom was the last one he fished out. Curled in a ball at the bottom. He didn't look chewed on... he tail was perfectly round like a plaket on is... but his tail is now a long veiltail so he got chewed. Might explain the traumatized thing. XD Petstore guy said he was never going to buy from that breeder again.

Yup. Alot of people don't notice. But I try to pay attention to them as much as possible so I can keep them happy. Which they can be sad or angry. Which affects their health and even their color. Betta have been known to change color at random for various reasons. Known another owner who's pure red turned pure blue. Could not figure out why.
Perseus and Sebastian were two that changed color on me. Not as drastically as that one. Ra went from pure banana yellow to a darker golden and having a blackened face. Percy was red with white on his fins. The white turned black.
Another odd one I had was Ra. An all orange fish who got fin rot. Which eats away their tails and other fins. I cured it so he only lost half his tail and his fins grew back... but his belly fin and tail fin grew together and where it merged it was blue.
Barsoom the long veil he grew is clear. the start is brownish red like he is.
Sobek actually split his tail fin in two and it grew back without a mark.
Then there was Crom Crueg. My fav fish ever. He was a monster. Biggest one I ever got. He wasn't a giant fighter which is a breed of betta. But he was big for a veiltail. He was pitch black with two perfectly straight lines of purple flecks down his body. Blood red eyes and his fins then burst into a firey orange that faded into black just around the edges with thin lines of blue through his tail. The edges of his fins were razor bladed at the ends. Haven't seen that in any other veiltail. Poor thing was too small for his cup when I bought him that the muscles in his tail atrophied and he didn't swim. He slithered on the bottom of his tank. And would wriggle dance through the water to take a breath of air. I kept him in a bare tank and shallow water. and gradually over time would add more water and a rock or two as obstacles till he gained strength and could swim normal.
Lets see... all my boys over the years.
Deceased: Hades, Poseidon, Odin, Oceanus, Crom Crueg, Pangur Ban, Sobek, Heimdal, Quetzalcoatl, Perseus, Ra, Sebastian, Smaug (Dragonscale only owned 5 days)
Alive: Midus (dragonscale), Igor, Barsoom, Sky, Ares
Veiltails are the ones you usually see everywhere, next is Crowntails. Plakets are the natural tails but they don't sell well so you don't find them often. Hard to tell them from females. Halfmoons are the most popular but are hard to keep their tails nice. Doubletails which I've only seen one in person. Elephant Ears are really hard to find and pricey. Dragonscales which are the metallic colored ones. Then there are hybrids of all of them. DoubleHalfmoons, DragonscaleCrowntail. etc... And then Giant Fighters. Which are about 4 times bigger. Those you almost never see. I rarely seen them come in any color but black with accents. And all have been plaket tails.
I researched a pet alot before I get it. I don't want to just jump in and end up doing everything wrong. Its not fair to the animal. I had a crocodile gecko as a child. He was given to me by my parents friend who had gotten it for their kids. They kept him in a jar on the floor with sand in it.
Yeah.... they poor lil guy was so messed up. Took him to a petstore to get all the stuff I REALLY need. They had some there. He was half the size he should have been for his age, he was far too pale, his jaw was misshapen due to him not getting the right nutrients, and he had a hump growing on his back. Also he was a tropical gecko. So he needed wood chunks not sand, a heat lamp not just set on the floor, and he needed to be humidified. The sand actually damaged his hands permanently. He could not climb even after shedding. I've taken alot of rescues like that cuz other kids parents get a pet and the kid either doesn't take care of it or just mess the poor things up. Rabbit, turtle, mouse, rats, fish, this shi ztu on my ankle right now. So doing a lil bit of hero work for these little guys I guess. XD

I had an aquarium in my bedroom for 20 yrs. My mother put it in my room when I was about 5, and I had it till I was in my 20s. I didn't start taking care of it myself till I was 7 or 8 though. In all that time, I only had one fish that was really memorable. At some point I didn't have any fish in the tank at all. We lived out in the middle of nowhere, and there were no pet stores nearby. So, I caught a tiny fish in a nearby lake and brought it home. It was a baby sunfish. I had it for about 5 yrs. It would kill any aquarium fish I put in with it, so it lived alone. Also after it got big, there wasn't room in the tank for anymore fish. It lived on regular fish food, but it also liked any bugs I would catch and bring to it. It died when we moved out of state. It was a long move, and the fish was put in a bowl while we set up the aquarium in our new home. He jumped out of the bowl, and found him dead on the carpet. I didn't know they could jump out of the water, or I would've put something over the bowl. He was only in the bowl for half a day. :-/
That sounds pretty cool. We mostly had your run of the mill goldfish and popeyes when I was a kid. I caught a little carp once. Mom let me take him home in a bucket. I set up a 20 gallon for him. But when I went to pour him in the tank... the bucket was empty. We never found him.... no idea HOW it disappeared. Even mom was confused cuz she said she watched the bucket the whole time I was setting the tank up.
Most fish will actually suck out all the oxygen in the water rather quickly. So seeing fish in bowls without filters or something to re-oxygenate the water is rather unhealthy. Betta are air breathers though. Still breathe water but supplement it with gulps of air now and then. And one of the few fish you can actually have without filters and airstones. However, I have lost a fish to jumping. I didn't know they could jump out of a cup either. He hadn't even been in there half an hour before jumping out. Unfortunately my back was turned so I didn't realize so my roommate at the time's genetic mutation chiweenie found him... didn't chew him... just licked him raw. Another fish I ended up putting down myself. So all my tanks have lids now to prevent jumping. Some just Tupperware lids I cut an air/feeding hole in.
