The irony is the "MEOW"
Mara Rae is the second of my Original Species characters...and will probably end up being my main "me" character, even though all the others will have happy homes as cast/mascots for my projects.
The Original Species is called Aquarius Mammalius and (roughly summed up) they are a combination of an aquatic life form and a mammal, with a human flair thrown in.
~ They can shapeshift into a "feral" form of either of their "parent species" or a human. Their success in the transformation is directly linked with their own abilities, so not all of them can do so fluidly.
~ Regardless of the form they're in, they can not remain outside of water for extremely long periods of time. They can breath air through lungs or gills (which they all have), however they get ill if they completely "dry out".
~ Most of them have retractable claws, regardless of the "parent species", and a wider mouth than is obvious.
~ Other quirks are determined by their "parent species".
~ For example:
Mara Rae is a "Marine Dog" (common term) who's "parent species" are Stingray and Domestic Dog (think Pit Bull/Amstaff). She is poisonous due to her Stingray heritage, and has up to three (poison-soaked) spikes on her tail that she can eject at will...however, it takes time for these to regrow. Her gills are located just behind and below her "ears" but not extending to her neck. She is extremely flexible for her size and build. Also, she's not particularly good at transforming, so she tends to stay in this form.
Mara & Aquarius Mammalius © me
side note: I'll be doing some adoptables/designs for this species in the future...once I've caught up on a few things...but for now they are a closed species.
