Inner-Selves, No. 41, Part B

"He saw my movements? He's improved more than I anticipated, but it doesn't matter" Nightshade thought to himself as he stood there regaining his composure. "Just who is he? He's clearly an outsider, but he's also able to keep up with an Overseer's quick step, this is unheard of" Yue thought as he stood across the bridge looking on in amazement. "You're better than you were before, I'll give you that, but you still have no chance of victory" Nightshade told Fidget in a calm manner. "He's right, quick step is just one of the many high-level tactics big brother has up his sleeve...I've gotta stop this" Kat told herself.
Kat quickly moved in-between Fidget and Nightshade, holding her arms out to her sides. "Kat, get out of the way, I've got a score to settle with this guy!" Fidget shouted. "Go ahead sister, let him go, if he wants to die that badly I should grant him his wish" Nightshade said. "Kat!" Chewy said worriedly as he started to get up; Dash quickly grabbed Chewy's arm to stop him. "No...there's no need for both of us to get hurt...let Fidget handle this" Dash said weakly. Kat and Fidget both quickly looked over at Dash, relieved that he was alright, especially Kat. "Heh, so you gave that guy what-for huh Fidget?" Dash said as he smiled weakly. "Nevermind that now, it's because of that that you're in the shape that you're in right now" Fidget said. "Idiot...don't worry about me, this is nothing..."Dash said; he started to cough up blood afterward. "Dash don't push yourself!" Chewy said as he resumed healing him.
Fidget gritted his teeth as he looked at the sight, then turned to face Nightshade again, Kat was still standing between the two of them. "Are you the one that did that to him, Nightshade?" Fidget asked as he glared at the black kitten. "You will address me as Overseer Nightshade Fidget, but yes, I am the one" Nightshade said as a look of anger came over him. "Since I'm not an official youth sprite such formalities are meaningless to me, if I wanna address you by just your name I'll do it!" Fidget said, egging him on. "Fidget stop, are you trying to make him angry?!" Kat shouted. "His anger is nothing compared to mine, like I said, I wanna fight him more than any youth sprite in the entire 13 units, he makes me sick, he has no right to call himself a brother!" Fidget exclaimed. Nightshade glared at Fidget, but gave no reply. "Brother, he's a fool, but nonetheless I'd hate to see any harm come to him, just let him go, please!" Kat begged.
Nightshade looked at Kat solemnly. "Despite however you may feel about him, he came here of his own free will and attempted to help you escape, he must be punished, the law decrees it" Nightshade said sounding emotionless. He then grabbed Kat by the arm and threw her out of the way of the two of them, Fidget was furious because of this. "You jerk!!" Fidget shouted as he swung his sword at him. Nightshade used quick step to avoid the attack, and he was then standing behind Fidget a few feet back. Fidget turned around and looked at him, clenching his teeth and growling. "You should really keep your emotions in check, they'll only impair your fighting ability and your judgment" Nightshade said. Nightshade then held his sword up and prepared to use his spirit attack again. "No!" Kat shouted. Fidget maintained his fighting stance, not knowing what to expect. Nightshade focused his spirit energy into his blade.
"Bubble..." he started to say. Then suddenly, what appeared to be a pink and white baby blanket mysteriously appeared and draped itself over the blade, the energy that was stored inside the blade was instantly drained from it, Nightshade looked directly behind him and everyone was surprised to see a bear cub with a daisy on her ear and wearing a cloth diaper kneeling on the ground; she'd seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. "It can't be..." Yue said. "Who's that?" Chewy asked. "How'd she get here?" Fidget thought to himself. "I'm even more surprised to see you than I was to see that bobcat" Nightshade said. "It's been a long time, Nightshade" Daisy said.
Elsewhere, a light gray mouse wearing a magenta-colored onesie with a gold shuriken mark and a dark gray scarf around her neck was walking toward the nurseries for her unit, the special forces unit. The members of her unit quickly got down on one knee and were silent as she passed by, she took out a throwing needle that looked like an opened diaper pin from the right leg hole of her onesie, it was nestled between her onesie and her diaper; then she threw it at a random member from her unit. The youth sprite caught the needle that she threw at him without raising his head or moving from his kneeling position, Overseer Rika the mouse smirked slightly in approval. Rika continued walking until she came to a brown raccoon wearing a navy blue pacifier around his neck, he had a red samurai helmet for his mark and carried a wooden training katana across his back in addition to his rattle which was relatively small compared to that of other youth sprites.
The raccoon appeared to be in a meditative state, completely motionless; Rika then attempted to strike him with her own rattle which she was carrying, it too was relatively short. The raccoon blocked the attack by grabbing his superior's hand in one quick motion, then he looked up at her for acknowledgement. "Ever vigilant as always, Sergeant Tanyui" Rika said with a satisfied look on her face. "You taught me to always stay on my toes ma'am" he replied. "I'll tell you now why I'm here, I've been trailing Overseer Yue and watching his every move, but new orders just came in from Head Overseer Borea that in light of Overseer Hugo's defeat, all overseers are now required to be in the company of their sergeants at all times" Rika said. "Am I to accompany you on your mission then?" Tanyui asked. "For the moment no, Overseer Yue is currently accompanied by Overseer Nightshade, the latter has shown no reason for us to distrust him, so as soon as Overseer Yue is separated from him, we'll resume the mission" Rika concluded.
In other parts of the playhouse, Zemy the chipmunk and two of the other overseers were moving to meet up with their own sergeants; elsewhere the medical unit and the research unit had completed their investigations of Overseer SilverFang's body and were preparing their reports. Macho was slowly starting to come around whilst he was confined inside a holding pen, and Sophie and Seth were now moving more cautiously; Seth still not quite comprehending what had happened to him. The time remaining until Kat's scheduled execution....3 days.
