i've had an idea for a while? like- extremely vague but i finally kinda finalized my concept of this boy tonight :'3

BEFORE READING trigger warning for suicide mentions and sad things of that nature!!

this cURRENTLY UNNAMED BOY is a ghost that lurks in the suicide forest in japan aka aokigahara. for those of you who don't know what it is, it's a forest that's popular for people committing suicide in, so much that there's even a sign that begs people to reconsider their actions if they're contemplating, but what if that's not enough? what's a simple sign going to do if someone is determined to take their life?

that's where this boy comes in-- he's a ghost as a result of his own suicide due to depression and the feeling of worthlessness, and his spirit is restless because he has so much regret about his decision. so much that he wanders the forest and meets up with those that are contemplating and helps them realize life is worth living etc. he just acts as if he's a random person walking around in the forest and people usually buy that sort of excuse from him and don't question it farther. he will ask questions about the person and try and talk them out of it- he sometimes has issues with really persistent people but no one has killed themselves when they run into him. sometimes he misses people and they die and he can sense their spirits.

in his story his existence is the cause of a rumor that when you enter the forest to commit suicide you'll not go through with it and exit with a clearer mind and feel better entirely as a person, and it's mostly unexplained until people meet him and then they make the connection- but only sometimes.

people aren't aware he's a ghost even- he doesn't really let anyone touch him and he has no real 'physical form' so he appears misty and slightly transparent though people always think this is just their minds being foggy as a result of the bad feelings they were experiencing. he can change his appearance and sometimes doesn't appear as the same exact person though he has the same umbrella and clothing style- though this is his form closest to when he was alive. he's always pale and has light hair with similar colors too maybe.

his spirit is tied to aokigahara as his grave is located there and he can travel all through the forest but can never leave, nor will he ever be truly at peace since he finds this is his only purpose that he can fulfill when dead, that it's the least he could do since he had killed himself and didn't really live his life- he's an extremely calm and kind spirit and despite being restless doesn't feel the effects of being unstable or at risk of turning into a malicious spirit.

however because he's such a relaxed spirit he acts as a sort of protector for visitors, since there are also malicious spirits and demons that will try and tempt them into suicide. he's kind of the repel to that, he has a strong aura that keeps them away.
