And more doodling/practice.
After the tooniness of the other test, this is a considerably more tightly-rendered set of headshots.
One thing I've noticed (besides the much smoother linework) is the almost automatic desire to do a more "painterly" style. I'm used to doing the simple flat, almost flood-fill cel shading, but the hands-on-ness of the screen makes me want to use longer, looser strokes. Like holding a paintbrush instead of a marker, or given my skillset, perhaps more colored pencil or pastel. I have no idea what this means, but it does make for nicer rendering.
And this just ended up being a cross-section of hot guy types for me, I suppose. XD The thug, the douche, the gentle giant (yes, he should look familiar), the drill sergeant, the barbarian, and the cute punk!

I think I figured out I don't like mustaches on their own (and I grew up in the 80's so there was a LOT of that) so I didn't consider it early on. Once guys started doing more goatees and chinstraps and stuff, especially in the past decade, I liked that a lot better...and full beards came from there.
Chest hair I can take or leave depending on the guy, but as an artist it's really a pain to draw XD

The thug, gentle giant, and barbarian are EMM EMM GOOOOD! MRAWR to the barbarian. Red heads, thickness, and beards... So dang good X3
I'm really digging your punk, doesn't help that he's a cute punk too. Glad to hear you're having fun with your new tablet. Hope you're able to relax a lil more after this stressful season.
