This has been sitting around like this for a while. Couple weeks ago I did a little bit more shading and added some patterning to the teal fabric. This is going to be really tough to part with, but I made him for selling. I was going to try for AC's art show, but I just decided not to rush him and wait for MFF. I have NO idea about starting prices for original paintings, but I figure I'll ask around.
He's done in acrylic. The gold crown and accents are in gold leaf (bitch to work with I might add). I was going to put in some Swarovski crystals but whenever I put them on the canvas for placement ideas it just.. looked like too much and distracted from the paint shading so no crystals for this lion.
Whats left is just some more minor high lights and shading and perhaps a bit of trim detailing on the purple edge of his robe so it won't look so stark.
Over the wood of the chair I've got some acrylic medium stuff that really makes things glossy. Makes this really nifty deep stained wood effect IRL as a result.
Lesse, uh, size. 20 inches tall and 15.5 inches wide. For me, thats like really big or something, but this is also my first real painting in over a decade. x_x In the future, I'm probably going to explore this method a lot more. Its really relaxing to paint on canvas in spite of a bit of initial teeth gnashing while getting used to paints and brushes again. Soooo different than colored pencils on smooth ink paper.

No plans FC though I could probably weasel a room and whatnot if I thought I could make it this year. I kinda am wishing I'd planned on it but the con after MFF that I was thinking would happen next for me is FWA in February. I don't really know if this will even sell at MFF. I'm a complete virgin when it comes to selling real paintings at cons or.. anywhere else really! ;p
