Commentary: So here we are at song number 5! Roots before branches was a song I sang and posted a long time ago, when I had a blue yeti instead of an Audio Technica, and far less knowledge of mixing. Now, I have a bit more know-how and a bit more talent, so I decided I'd revisit this one as it's a special song to me!

This song is very much about the uncertainty of life, and not wanting to dive into something unprepared. You have to have yourself rooted in something before you attempt to go any deeper. It's also a thematic on breaking away from certain factors in my life that hold me down, as you might hear in the bridge. I really hope you like this one.
