Honestly, I did this purely to see how long it would take to render a basic animation that uses Global Illumination, Caustics, Final Gathering, and a photon map. Surprisingly, it only took about 45 minutes, which is pretty close to on-par for most my turntables. The lights and figure are stationary, while the camera rotates around them, so that likely accounts for the low time-cost. It's also why the shadows appears static.
For reference, those 45 minutes renders 150 frames with a anti-aliasing sampling of 0.24. Half of those frames, I discard to reduce file size and keep it from looking like its in slow motion. Because of the AO shaders I use, close ups of the face take significantly longer to render than body shots. In typical still frames, I like to crank up the AA to 2.00, if it's going to be for something that's not basic charts. For headshots, this means that single frame can sometime take as much as 5 minutes! A typical body shot takes about 1 and a half at that setting. If I knock the headshot's AA down 0.24, it drops to about 2 minutes. In reality, I have a lot of trouble telling the 0.24 results from the 2.00 usually, but hey 5 minutes isn't too bad. Besides, I'm usually working on something else in another window while I render.
