One of a small series of simple paintings I've been working on the last few weeks. Very simple paintings :|

Inspired by the beautiful work of Ken Hultgren. I probably owe a great deal of my improvement over the years to his book, The Art of Animal Drawing. It is a fact that if you look at some of my older work, you'll likely find images directly referenced from his drawings. Admittedly, it took a few years of personal growth to realize that they were TOO directly referenced, but the drawing and redrawing of these images, coupled with the tips from this book, soon had me reproducing the steps and style in my own work, sometimes without realizing it. I think I have made leaps and bounds since reading that book, and I highly recommend it to anyone, at any skill level, as a learning tool or just an enjoying read.

I might add that this book also helped a great deal with my animation while I was in school :| I'm a bad animator. I animate straight forward, and have serious trouble using in betweens. My brain doesn't seem to work well that way.
