They might be too sweet, remember, we start our lives off wrapping everything in sugar, grease and fat. I mean, even that salad he ate could give you diabetes if you ate it every day. This is what happens when you make an entire nation of food addicts, or as Ghandi would say: "In India, we eat to live, in America, you live to eat." XD
I don't totally agree with you on that. While it's true that most(or all) of our food originated from other countries, most of said food has taken on a life of it's own, with many variations appeasing local tastes.
Pizza is of course, italian, but pizza here is NOTHING like they have in italy. the big floppy slices in New York, to the deep dish in Chicago, which is so thick the sauce is placed on top!
Hot dogs(frankfurters) and the hamburg steak originate from Germany, but we gave them the bun and with it, all the strange toppings and condiments. they're nothing like the dishes that originated in Germany
Peanut butter is almost exclusively an american food and we found it's pairing of jelly and chocolate on our own. There is also a few dishes based on it, such as the Elivs Sandwich: Peanut butter, bacon and banana (don't knock it till you try it)
Ironically, probably the most American food out there is "Chinese food", most of the dishes either being heavily modified with local ingredients, altered to suit Americans love for sweet food, or completely made up on the spot. We also invented the fortune cookie!
Same with a lot of Mexican food now.
Anyway, point is, we definitely got our own thing going.
