Like I mentioned in my journal, I am so unsure what to choose as costume. I post here four pretty rough sketches, just to show what I have in mind. The positive, but also the contra arguments are written next to the models. Please comment and help me.
P.S. I will delay this after Halloween.

Hmmm.....I'd like to throw another character into the mix for you to consider....How about Mr. Hyde ?....The Jack the Ripper costume would work well for him,and you could even save it and alter it somehow if next year you decide to go as old Jack....thus,spending the money for the topper would be a good investment! If you have a nice, ornate walking stick in your collection, that would be the perfect accessory,as Mr. H had that habit of giving anyone who crossed him severe beatings. ^ ^;;;....The only thing is,how are you with make up effects? You would have to make yourself somewhat ugly for Mr.H....Bushy eyebrows, large snarly costume teeth,etc....To me,the best version of Mr. Hyde will always be the 1932 film with Frederic March...look him up! just a suggestion off the top of my head...I hope it helps!
i went as a demon knight once, i had these two sword. which i built sheathes for and had some copper wire by stripping the cover off and wrapping it around teakwood veneer strips. then i took a cheap clear mask ground up some rubber on a sander forming a bunch of sawdust like rubber then took un-vulcanized rubber that is used for making rubber molds with and the sawdust rubber and built a mask of enlarged cheekbones and eyebrow ridges and the mouth and chin. then i cut the jaw off and reattached it with more latex rubber in layers using a hair dryer to cook it to near vulcanized. then i painted it all lime green and crimson red the made teeth out of hard white plastic and sewn it into the mask back then added a rubber film to the eys so that i could just put the mask on and the carefully seal the eyes to my cheeks underneath so it looked like my own face and was form fitting. i could talk with the jaw moving a little and could drink beer out of a long neck! the rest of the costume was just all black soft cheap fabrics and an old vampire cape i put on inside out with the red on the outside then a hood over the top and whallah; i was a demon knight that scared the hell out of people especially when we went out to a restaurant and ate dinner!
or you could do what a friend of mine did, he went as a flasher. he got an old cheap overcoat from a second hand store and then made a pair of leggings from checkered pants and then made a big cock out of some of that rubber i mentioned a couple of styrofoam balls in a sack like a plastic bag then painted everything bright pink and used some hairy wig stuff for the pubic hair then he would wear the pants over his own clothes and put on the strap on fake dildo then wihip open his coat when someone asked what he was...hehehee.
or get some of that molding stuff like i did with the demon mask and built your character with it and make a pirate costume like he wears. the pistol should be easy to make it only has to look like it works. and the cutlass has to only be a sheath and the handle. a second hand clothing store should give you all the stuff you need to build the costume then start sewing!
