Oh man, this is absolutely beautiful! So fleshy, slick and slimy looking... those mice will be in for one hell of a horrible time @_@
Your detail work is excellent here. The eyes in particular are really nice looking <3 I also like how you worked in the subtle scale patterns too. And of course that mouth is absolutely perfect! Just the right amounts of highlights, and just generally gross and foul looking =D
And yeah, I know what you mean when you talk about new techniques messing with your style's consistency. It can really unbalance your workflow at first until you master the new technique and then it will blend more or less seamlessly into your style =D Honestly I LOVE what i'm seeing so far, and the turn towards semi-realistic painterly techniques is always a plus for me! I think it will work exceptionally well with your style, especially after seen the quality of this picture.

Awesome job on this. That maw looks absolutely fantastic, beautifully capturing that fleshy, slimy look and feel; and I love the way the saliva-soaked mice are almost stuck to the tongue. The scaled look to the dragon's flesh is gorgeous, with the textures and shading perfectly enhancing the intensity of its gaze.

That maw and tongue are beautiful, love the scales around the snout and eyes, and just mhhhh such a lovely piece in general! :D
Although, if that dragon is only eating mice, i dont imagine it will be remaining strong for very long. Such a small meal would barely even make a dent in ones hunger!
A truely amazing piece! And in my opinion tis a good thing that your style is inconsistant due to being busy etc, it means each piece you produce is more individual, and offers a feeling of uniqueness and specialness, so I wouldnt be to bothered.

I think this dragon enjoys chowing down on a variety of living creatures.
And with my inconsistencies, sometimes I worry that a commissioner will receive a piece of work in a style they didn't expect. So far I haven't had any complaints, thankfully.
It might be a long time before I reach your turn, since I am working ridiculously slowly, but in time it will come!
