Name: Wurmple
Classification: Worm
Type: Bug
Number: 265
Evolution: Wurmple – Silcoon (level 7) or Cascoon (level 7) – Beautifly (level 10 from Silcoon) or Dustox (level 10 from Cascoon)
Length: 30 centimeters
Weight: 360 grams
Habitat: Decideous forests
Description: Wurmple are exceptionally large caterpillars that, including the spikes on it’s front- and rear end, can become 30 centimetres in length. Offspring from both Beautifly and Dustox are given the name Wurmple. What is often seen as it’s eyes, are in fact fake eyes designed to scare of predators. Its real eyes are tiny and located just above the jaws. Wurmple are abundant in deciduous forests, where they eat the leaves of almost any plant or tree. They supplement this diet with the juice from trees. With the spikes on their rear end, they scrape of bark from trees and suck up the juice that oozes out. They often fall prey to birds of the Pidgey- and Taillow-evolutions, but it’s remarkable how little other pokémon eat Wurmple. This probably has to do with the poison they produce. When a Wurmple is attacked, it sticks up the spikes on it’s rear end, which immediately begin to ooze poison. Pokémon that live in an area where there are a lot of Wurmple every year, have become practically immune to this poison, but if another prey is available instead of Wurmple, they will choose the other target. For humans, the poison slightly irritates the skin when it comes in contact with it and when the poison enters the blood stream, it causes weakness and nausea. It is only a bit uncomfortable for adults, but small children are at serious risk when Wurmple-poison enters their blood and it is recommended you take them to a doctor immediately. When Wurmple are about to evolve, they spin themselves a cocoon from a sticky substance they spit from their mouths. This is the first point where certain differences between those who will become a Beautifly and those who will become a Dustox are visible. The Wurmple who will become Dustox, generally hide their cocoon on the ground and spin a more lilac thread. The Wurmple who will become Beautifly, hang their cocoon from silk-like threads in trees and their cocoons are usually white.
