... Karin?
Hm hm hm- mm? Yes, Kiya? Is there anything I can help you with?
I, uh... Probably? I really don't know what I'm doing, anymore. I mean, it was sort of tricky already to be a Goddess to my people when I was able to fit inside my own country, but... This is just a tiny bit more than I'm used to!
Oh, don't worry! You're adjusting very nicely already, and you do look ever so regal at this size.
Kiya blushed, a small surge of extra power stretching her already-cosmic sphinx body a couple dozen miles bigger. Thanks! But... I'm serious! I can barely even see earth down there, how am I supposed to help rule it?
Never fear! There's a trick to it. You have to look at it with your powers, rather than just your eyes. Karin easily reached down with a clawtip and poked at an unseen point on the planet in Kiya's palms. See? Try looking at your home with your divine sight.
Well, I'll try, but I- whoa... Kiya's eyes went wide. There's... So many people! And all of them cheering for me and my gods!
Of course! You've done so much for them, after all!
Nodding in amazement, Kiya had to admit, I suppose we have... But, Karin?
Hm?
When you poked at the planet a moment ago... Did you create a statue of me the size of a mid-range country?
Well, Karin giggled, we wouldn't want people not having any place to go to worship their beloved Sphinx, now would we?
Trying not to smile TOO widely at the situation, Kiya admitted, I'm not sure I'd want to ALWAYS be this big, but... I think I could get used to this, every once in a while!
While a goddess in her own right, it's not often that Kiya gets to solar system dwarfing sizes! And even then, she would still give her own Gods the ultimate praise. Kiya's an ancient Egyptian goddess born in a small village in lower Egypt several thousand years ago. Unfortunately the town fell victim to foreign pillaging, with most of their villagers being captured as slaves or outright killed in the process. By the time Egyptian officials arrived on the scene, a few survivors- mostly children- had been found, one of them Kiya. The officials instantly recognized Kiya as a sphinx, a symbol of great power in Egypt, and escorted her and the other survivors to Thebes.
Upon arrival Kiya was adopted by the Pharaoh himself, and the other children from the village were kept as slaves for Kiya. Growing up, Kiya was given the best education she could have possibly asked for, learning the arts of reading, writing, dance, music, and scythe combat from the best in the land. She treats her fellow survivors as friends, rather than slaves, and freedom will always be an option to them if they so wanted it.
Part 9, the penultimate picture in the series. It’s not often people get to loom over goddesses as powerful as Karin, but Kiya is fortunate enough to have that opportunity here. Once again, Alef’s use of gold in the highlighting is extremely striking and works wonderfully!
