Inner-Selves, No. 42 Part A

"You're taking a huge gamble showing your face around here, Daisy the bear" Nightshade said. "Daisy? That's the name of Speckle's teddy bear....that's impossible" Kat thought to herself. "I don't consider it that big of a gamble, after all, I've managed to avoid capture for well over a hundred years, besides, it's not like you'd ever be able to catch me" Daisy answered with confidence. Nightshade didn't say anything, but he narrowed his eyes as if he were frustrated by something. "I would've been fine without your help Daisy, but more importantly, how did you catch up to me so fast?" Fidget asked; Daisy didn't answer him. "Another ally? Fidget has more friends with him here than I thought" Chewy told himself.
Yue continued to look on, this situation was turning more complex and interesting by the minute. "Oh hey Yue, you're looking well" Daisy called out to him randomly. Yue got caught up in the moment and smiled as he rubbed the back of his head. "Oh thanks, I've been taking my medicine like I'm supposed to, it works wonders" he said feeling a bit more relaxed. He knew she was a fugitive, but her presence here and now brought back some distant memories of his. Seeing her momentary distraction as an opening, Nightshade made a move to apprehend her, but in an instant, Daisy was behind him, she had both of his wrists in her grip. "She's even faster than my brother!" Kat thought. "Whoa!" Fidget exclaimed. Chewy was just as amazed; Yue expected nothing less. "You're still too slow Nightshade, do I need to remind you why I'm referred to as the 'Quick Step Queen'?" Daisy said.
Nightshade broke free from her grip and put his arms down, Kat was surprised, she'd never seen her brother look so defeated. "You haven't improved near as much as I thought you would, I'm a little disappointed, I thought I told you to train everyday" Daisy said to the black kitten. "She taught my brother how to use Quick Step? That settles it, she's 'that' Daisy the bear!" Kat thought, now in awe of the bear that she saw before her. Fidget had seen enough, he was still obsessed with teaching Nightshade a lesson that he'd never forget. "Alright Daisy, step aside, before you showed up I was about to kick this guy's butt" Fidget said.
"You're gonna fight him?!" Daisy exclaimed, a sense of fear and concern in her voice. She used quick step and hit Fidget at a pressure point on the back of his neck, knocking him unconscious, she then placed Fidget over her shoulder after putting his sword back in its sheath. "You shouldn't have done that, if he was in that much of a hurry to die, I would've been happy to grant his request" Nightshade said. Daisy didn't look at Nightshade, but she began to speak, sounding determined and focused. "Initially I told Fidget and his friends to avoid engaging Overseers in battle, but it seems that that's no longer an option, especially you Nightshade" she said. "In that case, why did you knock him out?" the black kitten inquired. "Don't misunderstand me, I have every intention of letting him fight you, but not at this time" she answered.
"Then when will it be?" Nightshade asked. "Three days from now" the bear cub said. "Three days? The day of the execution?" Yue thought to himself. "You've got to be kidding me, what could you possibly teach him in three days?" Nightshade said mockingly. "As much as I taught you, and thensome, mark my words Nightshade," she said as she looked up at the kitten, glaring at him, "in three days, I will make him stronger than you!" Kat and Chewy looked surprised, surely this was an attempt to bluff. Nightshade looked irritated, now he felt like she was mocking him. "Whether it's three days or three centuries, you couldn't get him up to my level even if you tried" he responded. "I'll bet my life on it" Daisy told him. "Very well then, in three days both of you will die by my hand, tell that bobcat that if he values his life, he'll stay away from the execution grounds that day" Nightshade said.
Kat bit her lip and then began to object. "This is crazy! There's no way you can make him that strong in such a short time! Take him and his friends and get out of here!" she shouted. "Why do you continue to push away your friends?" Daisy asked. Kat clenched her teeth and her eyes watered, she felt many emotions all at once, and though she tried, she couldn't find the right words. "We're pressed for time, I'm afraid we'll just have to leave Dash in your care, medical youth sprite" Daisy said to Chewy. Chewy shook off his worries and nodded in confirmation, then he resumed his treatment. "Three days, don't miss it" Daisy said to Nightshade. After that she quick stepped away from the scene with Fidget in tow.
As soon as the two of them were gone, other youth sprites arrived to see what all the ruckus was about. After a few moments, Dash was taken away to one of the holding pens after his wounds had been treated, Kat was locked away in the tower again after some repairs were made to the cell door, and she was placed under tighter guard. Chewy was taken away for questioning, much to Overseer Yue's dismay. Nightshade wandered off, not wanting to stick around anymore now that some resemblance of order had been restored. "Things are more serious than I thought, good thing I've already set up the meeting for tonight" Yue told himself quietly.
