I guess now would be a good time to upload the bigger version of my avatar. I've needed to use it a lot recently, lol.

I guess I'm gonna have to be the one to say it. This is kind of shitty. Making fun of trigger warning jokes etc in general. It makes light of people asking for basic respect that things be tagged and imo I don't really think it's funny or cute or anything.
I'm saying this because I've been following you for a long time, years in fact, and I was a fan of your artwork. I enjoyed the badge you made for me, and meeting you at FC several years ago, and I'm disappointed that this is what you're doing now. And I'm disappointed that there are enough people going "oh haha lol that's so funny what a great meme haha"

The problem is that it's become a caricature of itself. Not only that, but it's increasingly becoming a tool that people use to exert power over others. Example: A group of women was recently kicked out of a comic convention and banned for life because a few people on social media declared they felt "unsafe/triggered" because they were "Gamergate sympathizers" and the convention had a knee-jerk reaction. Even had the cops called on them when they met up at a park to make up for missing the convention. All because no one wanted to question why people felt unsafe around them. (They were ABSOLUTELY harmless)
Anyway, it's pretty much gone overboard. I not gonna go around asking individual people to please give that term back to the people that really need it, any more than I would ask every one with "headmates" to stop pretending they have a disease that affects real people. So I do the next best thing: parody it.

One among many.
The woman the avatar is modeled after threatened to contact commanding officers of veterans for daring to question her "condition": http://i.imgur.com/DSoNwue.jpg
Then there was that time someone decided that herm was triggering to some people. When asked for an alternative, they said "futa" might work, which is japanese for... herm... And if I remember correctly that guy tried to collect money from that incident too.
There's a trigger warning on the trigger warning page here: http://geekfeminism.wikia.com/wiki/Trigger_warning
I could probably keep going.
People can get upset at me if they think the joke is tasteless, that's fine. They can even try to argue civilly about it. But I think they might be wasting all that anger that should be focused on people actually abusing this kind of thing for their own gain, while leaving real victims out to dry.

As someone who was diagnosed with PTSD, I don't find this image insulting. I actually came here to view the image because I find it hilarious.
You can't get PTSD from comments on Twitter from people disagreeing with you, no ifs, ands, or buts. If you believe you can, you're slapping people like me in the face who wish for people (like that Twitter feminist) to stop claiming they're "triggered" over every little thing.
Personally? I wish for "trigger" to be a term used solely and exclusively by people with phobias, dysphoria, eating disorders, PTSD, etc. Finding mild discomfort in something is not "triggering".
Edit: I really wish people wouldn't jump in front of every bullet shot at people with triggers or disorders. I'm speaking only for myself when I say this, but I personally would rather defend myself and debate rationally with the person who I perceive to be insulting me, than have someone shield my eyes and plug my ears. Certain triggers cannot be overcome unless the person exposes themselves to that trigger at their own pace.

Hello, I have PTSD, bona-fide and diagnosed by at least two different doctors now.
It sucks. I have a lot of legitimate social issues because of it.
So yes, it kinda really pisses me off when Self-Diagnosed people use a condition I struggle with to fend off criticism, and it really pisses me off when it's used to justify poor behavior.
At best, it trivializes the condition, makes it seem less of a legitimate condition for me to struggle with.
What do you suggest, be done to stop or discourage this poor behavior?

The *Real* problem is that's the narrative being spread. People act like dickbags, get punished for being dickbags, and then tantrum about it (being 'triggered' in their own way by being called to account for their actions) and people listen to the dickbags. Instead of punishing dickbags we end up screaming and tantruming to defend their dickishness and provide them with targets to be dickbags at. Dickbag rights huzzah!
"Triggered" is the new "offended." In theory you say it and the someone that triggered you follows Wheaton's Law ("don't be a dick") and apologize, stop being a dick, or if the person is just crazy hypersensitive walk away because they aren't worth talking to. If someone is "triggered" and you feel the need to keep following them and "triggering" them, you're officially the problem.
But instead we portray the targets as the villains, inflating stories of the extremely rare (and occasionally ENTIRELY imaginary) "overzealous enforcement of SJW insanity" while ignoring the endless horde of pooping, screaming trolls that infest the internet.
Thing is, ultra-fragile glass people 'triggered' by everything and everyone tend to either hide away in their hugboxes (in which case the "not being a dick" rule is to leave them in the box) or scamper around looking for trolls to fight with (because they are trolls themselves) and your best bet is to ignore them. If you turn "triggered" into a dirty word, instead of a word you don't even pay attention to, chances are good you're making a mistake and giving some dickbag things they want and most assuredly do not deserve.

It could be said those people self diagnosing and overusing the concept of triggers and PTSD either for attention or some other kind of cynical gain have done a huge dis service to people who have genuine problems, Triggers are a real thing, PTSD is a real thing and people like Melody Hemsley, who is the kind of person I assume ajin is poking fun at here have really shit on people who are already having a rough time, and really trivialized some very serious things.

I'm with Hulex on this one. Sure, I've seen some silly trigger warnings and misuse of the word triggered, but it's still shitty to make fun of the idea as a whole. It disappoints me too, since I've been a big fan of your work, but after this I just can't stick around. Stuff like this isn't really cute or funny, it's mocking something actual people suffer with.
I agree with that, however perpetuating jokes like this mocks the people who do suffer from PTSD. Most people consider PTSD to be a myth in the first place, so getting people to take it seriously has always been an effort.
Jokes like this don't call out the misusers, they only mock the idea as a whole, and help nothing.

I certainly believe that PTSD is a real thing. And I do believe that some people can be triggered by imagery and the like. The sad part is this hijacking that's been going on recently. People claiming to have PTSD from reading twitter, getting triggered by talk of the weather. Sadly, this is no different than what the emo scene did with the idea of depression. Suddenly kids were depressed because it was the thing to be. And what happened? A slew of caricatures of not depressed people, but these people pretending to be. This is no different.
If tomorrow people are pretending to have 6 characters living in their head because they feel like they need to be more special than Johnny that pretends to have 5 people living in his head, then I will probably poke fun at that too.

I definitely do get your meaning with this, and I'm glad people are sticking it to people misusing the idea. I suffer myself with it, diagnosed and all, so it makes me happy to see them put in their place, but I also see people mocking PTSD as a whole because of it since people are rarely willing to check to see if a trigger is legitimate or just someone being "uncomfortable". I'm certainly not saying seeing like, say, pizza when you're trying to diet is a trigger. I'm talking things that actually make people crumple into a ball of anxiety and unable to function. I guess I'm a little sensitive because I've seen legit triggers be piled under "twitter" triggers, and that really aggravates me because it perpetuates that PTSD as a whole is some joke.
If you actually do physically react to things like that, then this joke is not aimed at your direction. Sadly, I don't really intend to go around and individually accuse people of misusing the idea of a trigger for their own benefit. It would be a fruitless effort, and would probably get me booted off for harassment. But the next best thing I feel is to let them know that they're becoming a parody of themselves, and that they're taking innocent people with them.
While I don't really like to get involved in this stuff, I feel it's worth noting that your intended message isn't always the one you are going to send. I had no idea what this was supposed to be referencing when I first saw it, and I just thought you were being a dick with regards to triggers in general.
Though even knowing the context, I'm not sure this is the best way to get your point across.

I think this meme is intended to mock one very specific person-- Melody Hensley, not veterans. Her behavior, claiming to have PTSD after being disagreed with on Twitter, is absolutely abhorrent. But you're right, perhaps perpetuating this meme is doing more of the same damage she did to the legitimacy of the word, and that's not cool.
Aye, I definitely get that. I do think people misusing the ideas of triggers need to be called out. I just don't think this is the way to do it. I know it's not my business either way, but as someone diagnosed with legit PTSD it angers me to see PTSD as a whole get mocked because some people misuse the condition.
Worth noting that this Melody woman was claiming the internet gave her PTSD worse than what soldiers have, and when soldiers started calling her out on it, she called their commanding officers to accuse them of harassment. So... yeah. Ajin making fun of her is in no way mocking real PTSD.
Well, she's the one in the original picture. So... it's a parody of the one mocking her directly? It sort of requires you to be familiar with the original material to get it. Just... go on tumblr and look up triggers. People claim to be triggered by everything from spiders to ceiling tiles and being argued with. It's a mockery of the whole victim complex... thing. It's as clear as it can be without linking to a wiki page, really. She, and a large portion of tumblr, use triggers and PTSD in a way that is mocking them, so their version of PTSD gets mocked, not actual PTSD.
The image Ajin has drawn is based and referenced entirely off of a Twitter feminist claiming she had PTSD from Gamergate comments while yelling at war vets who confronted her. That is entirely and solely the only thing Ajin is poking fun at, and this would be clear if more people knew of the meme (which he's linked to in the submission comments).
It's not making fun of PTSD, it's not making fun of triggers, it's making fun of Melody Hensley for claiming she developed PTSD from negative comments on Twitter.
If you defend this sort of activity, well.. I can't really say in good faith that you're any friend of PTSD sufferers, and don't know why you're trying to defend us. Melody Hensley is no friend of PTSD sufferers.

To be quite honest I'm not sure. My opinion has changed since I talked things over with other people in these comments, and I do believe the people who trivialize the matter need to be called out.
Really had I known the story behind this picture I would've been less likely to engage, but now that I do know it I can't really say I'm against it. That was my fault.

Okay Floe, I know you gotta go to bat for poor Hulex here-- but this isn't about him. The original image has NOTHING to do with anything but Melody Hensley. Please read up on her. If you seek to defend that woman's ridiculous actions, then perhaps you should be more concerned about your direction than mine.
This is fan-fuckin-tastic. You should totally do an icon commission series with it!
Also, those complaining about it are kind of missing the point: it's not mocking the concept of "triggers" for legitimate PTSD suffering people. It's mocking the idea of being "triggered" by the slightest amount of disagreement, or the idea of applying "trigger warnings" to -EVERYTHING-. In other words, its mocking the abuse of the concept by overly sheltered, whiny, or pretentious holier-than-thou people. Y'know, stuff like this:

Man, I think I did the smart thing killing my twitter and other social media accounts a few years back when this shit started up. However, I think it's awesome that it's developed into crazy shit like this.
Your avatar is why I started watching you. I love how the SJWs take no issue with people trivializing PTSD by claiming they got it from Twitter comments while still using Twitter, but they'll take issue with people mocking them. They truly don't have their priorities in order.
