For those who don't really read journals, I made this to spread the word about fixing the IMVU ad placement problem.
For most browsers (except IE, because why use it), you can use the scripts in the link below to move the submission info box back to where it used to be next to the description.

Most adblockers will also block it. In fact, I didn't even know there was an ad. I thought FA didn't load the CSS properly. Now I know why!
I do not block FA's normal ads though, and I recommend, out of a courtesy, you don't block them either.
This whole banner placement thing is pretty awful. It just takes up way too much space (it isn't even a horizontal banner!) and it's distracting from the content of the site. Ads shouldn't be so obtrusive to the content and will harm the site more than it helps. But hey, in the mean time use the above to fix FA's UI! :D
Credit goes to
boothale for the scripts!

That would be me. Code is at https://github.com/boothale/facleanup if you want to take a look.
For some reason I thought the drawn on beard was part of the ad until I looked at it again. *giggle*
I haven't seen an ad pop up on the side bar, but I will admit I don't really like how it looks, and how it will increase the likelihood of page stretching, because everyone and their mother knows the cheat code for having their REAL full size submissions uploaded.

Oh my goodness, thank you so so much. I had adblock on too, I didn't realise there were ads in it either, it was just a big empty space with text in the middle. Thank you. Funnily enough, I had Tampermonkey installed just to get youtube working properly on my laptop, hahah.
I use greasemonkey (firefox) for a whole host of things. It actually had a script that would let me click a download button on FA art, and it would auto-save the image straight to a folder sorted by artist. Unfortunately, it's broken now since FA's update and doesn't show up. :(
I also have a bunch of other quality of life things for stuff like youtube, because it keeps forgetting my settings between videos. I got sick of that fast. :D

Thats... really a good idea, I hadn't thought of something like that.
I feel ya there on youtube. My laptop isn't the best, it was doing the same thing for me. My laptop struggles with anything above 360p, guess what youtube sets it to automatically. Thats right... 1080 HD (60 fps). 'cos... y'know... youtube wants my laptop to be able to handle it :P

My bandwidth is capped and shared in my household between four people. I do my part and set most videos automatically to 166p, since usually they're just background TV style junk since I no longer have one in my room.

This is the greasemonkey script I use, though it looks to be compatible with multiple browser types! :D

I don't allow any ads of any kind on my browser, I'm not sure why, but ads just seem to stagger my internet and slow it down considerably for some reason. I'd allow ads for sites like FA to get the revenue from, but my computer (for some reason) just does not like ads of any kind. I just AdBlock Pro'd and completely eliminated ads and popups altogether.
Hmmm... Could be numerous reasons why. I know flash can be intensive on some computers, but most ads aren't flash anymore.
If it's animated gifs, which can wreck my computer when there's a lot of them at once on a page, you can use "gif blocker" for firefox if it's your browser of choice. I usually have that on for tumblr since I don't care about all the animations when I'm looking at adult materials, and the archive views really wreck my computer and bandwidth caps.
