Just in case anybody is interested, this is basically how i coloured the "acorn hunter" gift from
sharenwimbs
My explanations might suck so feel free to ask questions, also i'm not claiming to be an expert at this. Far from it really, I'm just an enthusiastic amateur.
Okay:
Then i use the pencil tool to add coloured lines to show where the highlights and shadows will go. I expand the selection again, convert to live paint and fill in all the required sections.
I took a photograph specially as a background for this picture in the local woods. Blurred it a little and hey presto!

These will be moved to scraps at some point

I have many amazing skills........*checks* oh crap, it's just the camera skills then, bugger!
You're pretty good with a camera yourself, the first shots you shared showed you've got a good eye(maybe two) and didn't want to share the standard "pic of me in the bathroom mirror" shot. Thinking about the shots you take improves them no end!

It will probably only be one pic
I was astounded to find a hill that got me high enough over the fence line to see across the golf course.
That is like the ONLY open area around here... absolutely no nature to be found in this place.
Anyway, it won't be as epic as one of your pics, but it shouldn't be bad.
As for angles, there is one place to stand, and one thing to see, so we will go with that.
