Those little critters are called Trufflers and they are my own original (closed) species.
That means you can get one by buying one at an auction or at MYO contests or by buying MYO (make your own) slots. :3
Background information (only the basics):
I know, what you might think: Some kind of animal with plant vegetation on their back has been there before. But those are new creatures of my imagination (duh) and their main and basically only food are truffles. They don't neccessarily need to eat, they just need lots and lots of water to 'feed' their plants in order to survive. Their eyes are not really good and they mostly rely on their sense of smell and hearing, but in the night they see much better than at daytime. They look for truffles in the ground a little bit like wild pigs. They have their own kind of language on a pitch that human can't hear and they are successfully hiding from us since hundreds of years. They live in their own little community (colony) and get along well with other kinds of magical creatures like fairies. Some fairies keep them as 'pets' so they find food for them, but Truffles cannot be fully tamed, they are their own masters. Sometimes the fairy people give them clothes as a sign of gratitude though and Trufflers wear it with pride, as it doesn't mean they were tamed to them, but simply befriended.
Despite their cute looks they can hurt you pretty badly if you attack them, but as they have no real natural predators (I mean, who would want to eat something that's made of grass and stone and some plants anyway?) and are rarely found by humans they don't really need to attack anybody and have long forgotten how to fight (other than cubs in a play.) They usually sleep in holes in the ground and little houses on hillsides or hang from trees like possums, but they only do that if they are sure of their safety, like in the hidden corner of the forest where their littles homes are. They are a little bit like a bee hive, they have a queen and also some kind of meeting place or 'palace' in a tree where they hold ceremonies. The queen gets to name all the newborn babies and they always have a name that fits the plant vegetation on their back. Trufflers are fast climbers and extremely quick, also quite smart. They are animalistic creatures, but have kind of a society where everybody has a certain job. Some of them have special, rare talents, like hearing noises from over the mountains (from great distances), healing powers, or can even see the future or past; those often have rare grass in unnatural colours growing on their back.
Oh, yeah, and as already mentioned on the reference guide: The plant vegetation on their back is their life spirit and they must make sure the flowers or weeds or mushroooms etc. stay healthy, because only as long as their little piece of forest lives, they live. (Little note: The plants on them live longer than normal plants, like hundreds of years, they just need to water them at a constant rate and so on.)
Trufflers are born as little stones (like river pebbles) and they need to be sank into the magical river that flows in their little kingdom or otherwise the 'eggs' won't hatch. When they are born they are first completely covered in stone, which is meant to protect them in the first weeks of their lives. When they grow older the stone retreats until they have a body covered with a certain plant species.
Every Truffler is unique and has their own plant life.
