I completed this around September 8. My first fursuit. |D I hope to make them for other people, I myself am not ballsy enough to go costuming in public, nor, to be honest, am I even that interested in it. I just love working in 3D and figured this was a fun project and a good test of whether or not I had the mettle to make them for other people. There're several incomplete areas of this- the ankles don't go up high enough on the feet and there are two blank notches on either side of the neck that I have to patch in.
The character's name is Ned, and I've had him for quite some time before I even got the idea in my head to make costumes- he's my simplest character design-wise, which is why I chose to do him. Spec wise, the tops of his ears just hit sex feet high. I myself am barely five feet. xD; Because I wanted him to appear stocky, I lost some human proportions by dropping the armpits and crotch quite some distance. I think it worked; you tell me, though. Also, for referencing purposes- those doors are WAY above standard width; they were built to comfortably accommodate wheelchairs.
He's made purely of Mendel's 3" shag fur. Nose is foam coated in latex and rubber pellets mixed into a cement that was then painted, eyes came from a bottle of Tyde, whiskers from a fiber optic lamp, ear innards are felt, the feet and hands are built on gloves and slippers with foam shaping and bulk added, and the two types of foam I used are block of high-density upholstery foam for sculpting the head and 1" thick sheets of a fairly low-density foam from Wal*Mart.
If you're interested in seeing more of him, I picture-logged the entire construction process of the head and have a gazillion in-progress shots uploaded here: http://s16.photobucket.com/albums/b.....pictures/suit/

Nice! *looking through your photostream* I'm rather curious how you got the black plastic to cover the head so well for patterning - or was that just an underlayer to attach the fur to? Is that black garbage bag plastic, or something else?
And you have a workspace that big, with a drop ceiling?! Wow! :o
