I think it is more a matter of J's rendering style that can look like squishy furless baggies. Again, squirrels can be really obnoxious about "standards" The fuzzy one would very likely be slammed in turn by more natural, toonie or anthro versions, all of whom would would demand that they are the exclusive or definitive interpretation.
When I was in high school, the local art supply / music / candy store carried these weird little characters and animals that were like heavy-duty balloon rubber filled with Stretch Armstrong goo. I'd forgotten about it for forty years, but this dredged them up tonight!
