I'm working on a clothed version of my character Liana and I decided she needs a blade, so since I know what her outfit looks like, I was stuck on what the weapon should be, so rather than start the picture and get stuck when it came around to drawing it I drew it on another piece of paper and this is what I got. I made it somewhat angelic, like her so I feel this weapon suits her. I was looking at a fair few swords when I designed it, for the inspiration and obviously the general design came from Squall's gunblade in FFVIII/KHI-II
I'll hopefully have an epic name for it, soon. Kinda deserves one.
Anyway, I hope you all like it

I've always wondered what the effective range on actually just shooting the gunblade would be. Or why they didn't angle the shells so that it assisted in the swing to make it more devastating rather than just sticking a hole in a guy you just eviscerated. I think they did that in Battle Angel with the guy's hammer..
Rambling aside I like the overall design, looks fairly sleek and lacks the crazy number of hooks and angles and holes that plagued some of the more modern FF games

I've always thought of the Gunblade as being a close-range weapon, swordplay mostly but gives the option to hop back and recover aswell as keep the enemy at a distance if you find yourself in a bit of a tight spot. Although yeah, if you've just sliced a guy in half, there's not really much point in trying to blow a hole in him to ^^''
