I think Ashley's a great character: she's got some bounce, confidence, kind of geeky glasses, and is adorably otterly. I expect I'd find her just as easily reading a book at a coffee house as diving for shellfish at a beach party.
You drew her well and anthopomorphised the otter in her nicely.
