steady rest for either of metal lathes, built 100% from scratch - except for the all thread bits and the bearings.

the round part was band sawn from a 10kg cast iron weight for a weight set, then to the mill for slots for the square guides then way to much brazing. to create the hinged box joint and closing clamp, the weigh clamping is some thick soft steel thrown in the lathe and faced so it had intentional high spots (feet) on two sides then very carefully aligned then mig welded to the cross bar.
