in the early 1950s, my dad partnered with someone, harvesting wild christmass trees, who had wwii surplus 6x6 they used to go out and do that.
i remember, i was a real little guy, only about 4 years old, the one time i got to go out with them.
in those days, you could get all kinds of military surplus stuff really cheap.
