While the large canine bounded away with his prize another familiar face was walking by and had caught him in the act. She shook her head, knowing full well what was happening, as she would often have those urges to chase down a mouse or two herself, even a nice fat bird if it landed too close. She turned from her path and took off in a run in an attempt to catch up. But with the males long stride she almost gave up, he was just too fast.
Until a break came when she saw him start to slow and stumble a little, she took a breath and caught her second wind, closing in on him quickly. Just as he was starting to pick up speed again she took a pounce, landing right where she wanted. His legs wobbled from the sudden impact and his grip loosened, she took that chance to grab the terrified chicken and fling it up into the air just as her and her larger partner fell to the ground.
