Even if I weren't sentimental, I would shed a tear at seeing them meet up again.
I'm hoping that it isn't (technically) over, because the sketches really would look better with at least a little inking. But even if it is, it was a magnificent story, and worth all the praise that the readers have given you (and then some).

So, Danni gets her Flag, Jerom gets a honorable retirement with tenure, a long as he stays on the island, and keeps to the "party line".
Why do I see the Emperors fine hand in this??? Stories within stories here. Great, and I hope that we will see a "dead tree", or at least an E-book, version at some time in the future. Would definitely be on my buy list.
Next???? The women's Zep stories??? Coyote Sisters??? Fennecs???? Er... Rabbits and mice in space????

Not exactly. The Imperial Army does begin an R&D project, and to settle nerves and foster better international relationships, works to make the area an international/uncontested site. As there are all kinds of little islands in the Great Ocean that have some development potential, public/private funding and support changed it from a field test site to a full-on campus. Only then was Jerom invited back, mostly as a symbolic gesture, as he has not much in real academic chops, but he does have a knack for recycling/repurposing and lectures on creative adaption. He isn't big on creative horticulture, no special breeding or anything like that, but he does get into how to create favorable conditions for delicate or difficult types with minimal, low tech solutions
(* sigh *) Almost sorry to see it come to an end. It's a very good -- even great story. I might have done a few details differently (putting Danni in charge of the Empire's part of Jerom's project, might have been a neat twist) but I certainly couldn't have improved it. Bravo! Awaiting publication.
I dunno, a merely competent story, and has the small virtue of having an ending. Having Danni involved would be something I'd actively avoid, as in most military organizations personell get rotated around to both "spread the wealth" of experinace and avoid getting too cozy into any one situation. (a lapse in Star Trek, as a real situation would churn the whole crew in and out in just a few years) So Danni would more likely have a wide ranging career.
This last page has the potential for a follow on .... After Jerom shows Danni around the island, he asks her what she has been doing, and she shows him. A Colliers/Von Braun style space program and she asks him if he would like to help set up a moon colony. Just a wild vision from your model building projects. THE COLONEL
