Goodness me, this is lovely! You never know what to expect when commissioning an artist for the first time, but then you drew the most amazing rendition of Fang eating a whale that just absolutely blew me away. So this time I had a fairly good idea of the standards to expect right? Perhaps! But that certainly didn’t mean I was quite prepared for a picture of this calibre. Once again you’ve completely blown my expectations out of the water – and this is when you already set the bar so high with your last rendition of Fang!
This really is just perfect. Fang looks absolutely astounding. You’ve managed to capture her immense size so nicely. The colours seem to blend as they go into the distance giving a great depth of field to the picture. Lovely work on the perspective too, that certainly can’t have been an easy pose to draw! Especially when there’s so much of her!
Her anatomy is general is as amazing as I’ve come to expect from you – I’ve said to a few people that you draw the best feline muzzles of any artist I follow, and I stick by that – it just looks so great. Her proportions and muscles look fantastic, her limbs, particularly her legs look so powerful. Her clothing and hair looks lovely too, they both flow so nicely and fit to the contours of her body so nicely. The texturing on her is great too. It must take so long to get all those spots drawn. And I love all the detailing you add in and around her face. I tend to keep her face detail quite simple, but those white, brown and black features around her eyes and muzzle all just look great.
And then you get to the foreground. Drawing all of those mammoths must have taken so much time. I can say from experience that drawing one of those guys takes a while. Drawing an entire herd of them must have been a real challenge! They look great though, and there’s so much detail on them all, even the ones further in the distance.
Finally there’s the background, and I’m so impressed by that too. You have a real flair for backgrounds, and you never seem to shy away from them. This one is no different – the sky looks great, the mountains and the kills give the impression of exactly what it should look like – an icy wasteland. I do have to say I like those pawprints in the hillside over there too – they’re a great indication of her size.
And as one final note, the colour balance in this looks great. It really looks cold there – even with Fang’s brows and reds filling so much of the page.
Amazing work, I really am so impressed by this! Thank you so much for another amazing commission.
