Shida grew up in a very wealthy family, and from a young age her parents pretty much controlled every facet of her life. She sort of hated them for this and rebelled in any way she could, including going through a Goth phase for most of her teenage years. Finally, when she turned 18 she just ran away.
For a while she lived in Japan, though she didn't really fit in thanks to her flagrant disrespect of pretty much any sort of strict social etiquette. After leaving Japan she came to America, where in a bender of epic proportions she broke into a certain ring-tailed lemur's house, where she lives to this day!
