For me, it's compulsive. Nothing short of something happening to my eyesight and hands will stop the doodling for very long. So getting discouraged I'll never be as good as _____ is pointless.

Last year I broke my drawing hand in a motorbike accident, while it was in a cast, I learned to draw with my left hand, now I'm ambidextrous :D Not even breaking my drawing hand will stop me from drawing!

But it's the way you did it. Simplification on linework and sticking to 3 colors is what makes this.

This is the best analogy for art compulsivity I have ever seen. I am very much the same way, I even call art block "art constipation," which confuses the snot out of all my non-artsy friend-people XD

I guess what I'm saying is it's easy to fart when you get a standing ovation for it. Sometimes people stop being interested or questioning their talent when you seem to be entertaining the void.
