Built in 1912, Kezhiyuan(课植园)) was a garden estate of a wealthy salt merchant called Ma Wenqing(馬文卿). The name translates as "do not forget to till the land while studying from books", as 课 and 植 means 'studying' and 'planting' respectively. It has suffered some damages during Sino-Japanese Wars, and further damages were done while it was used as a school in 50s. It has been restored and opened to public in 2008.
