Many died during the Cleansing of Man, when the Dragon Gods combined their powers and hunted down each human in the El Nido archipelago. Few survived, those whom could evacuate and leave to the seas beyond. It's 10 years since that time, the Demi-Humans and dwarves live in peace amongst themselves... mostly.

This idea rolled around in my mind for the past many years, ever since I unlocked the "Dragon's Revenge" alternate ending in Chrono Cross. After many iterations and some recent brainstorming, I conclude with the party you see here.
"Kit"; this is the reincarnation of the Serge which died in Another World at age 9. He is revived by the Fate computer using the body of Lynx cast aside when the Dragon Tear birthed Serge a new body. He showed up in Arni village when Serge, Kid, and Glenn (by my reckoning) sealed the Dream Devourer using the Chrono Cross, and since was raised by Doc's Demi-Human nurse.
Leah: of the innate yellow characters on the roster, Leah seemed the best candidate to continue into Dragon's Revenge. Popul would like follow Leena, perhaps in an attempt to protect her, and I have another idea how to incorporate Funguy. With Leah as a cave girl residing almost exclusively on Gaea's Navel, I don't get the strong impression she'll be bothered much.
Marcella: this is Marcy, of course, and the hardest I had to draw for this lineup. Human females are still a challenge for me, it seems. Anyway, she was originally Nikki, whom seemed a bit more natural choice, but I eventually settled on Marcy. I figure that since both Marcy and Nikki are half-Demi-Human they might get some leniency, especially since it's (one of) the Nikki whom awoke the Black Dragon from its living nightmare. She is trained by Steena as a swordfighter with Fargo's sword, "Invincible" (she still looks like a goth-chick, but she's got the battle-strings goin', and which is a plus in my book).
Razzly & Pip: Razzly was in my original plans (NeoFio has another role to play) as a slave of the Dwarves to "atone" for siding with the humans. Pip is a recent addition, used for entertainment by the Dwarves and evolved into the hulking "Holy Beast" you see there. They save each other and take refuge in Sprigg's dimension, where Pip learns to harness the powers of other monsters. I've always been a fan of rider-on-monster characters.
Draggy: the obvious choice for either an ally for an enemy in Dragon's Revenge, I have no doubt he'd be recruited under the Fire Dragon's tutelage as the new guardian of Mt. Pyre and master of the Salamander. Yes, he's 10 years old and yes, he has the body of a 20-something. I drew him some time ago with a bulkier childish physique and it seemed all kinds of "No" to me; I figure the dragon race ages quickly and stays in its prime for a while (he's my fave, so shush).
"Ghoul": this is a combination of Guile, Mojo, Skelly, and Greco, and uses what they all would have most in common (black innate element with the glove weapon); since Guile was, during production, Magus in disguise, I figured I wouldn't be far off in saying that he has a much more important role to play. If, hypothetically, during the Cleanse, he and the aforementioned names bandy their necromantic and dark magics together, perhaps they amalgamate into this gentleman, and spend their time haunting the canal of Termina.

This...is fricking fantastic, bro.
I had to think a bit to remember which ending this was when you mentioned it to me, but the minute I saw your line-up, I got it. Love the idea of Serge as Lynx, of course, though interesting that you had it appear here rather than canonically where it happened in the ending from before you fight Fate or change Lynx back, when he and Harle were living in Marbule. Also odd Fate could restore him in any capacity since in that ending she was dead... Anyway, his look is really neat, and I love how you give him Kid's dagger (the name is only one letter away, after all), almost as if he's Serge and Kid's son.
You managed to make me like Marcy, and that's an accomplishment right there! She looks fine to me, though she reminds me of someone I can't place my finger on...maybe Kida from Disney's Atlantis?
I never evolved Pip into his beast form, since I really loved Heaven Calls, but somehow I doubt he was quite that big. Not that I'm complaining ;) but I never saw him in that light. Still, always loved the little guy.
Okay, Draggy was cute but I never thought of him as growing up, let alone looking like that or being trained by the Fire Dragon. An awesome AU, and yes, he's quite hot. ^_^
And...combining all the Blacks into one amalgamation? Odd idea...but it sort of works. I can see Guile's cloak and braid, but it took me a bit to catch Skelly's skull and Mojo's candles, and Greco only seems to be there in the gloves.
All in all, an amazing concept, very cool. ^_^

Thanks, bro! :D
I get the impression that since FATE is a computer it would have some kind of backup system, and one could argue that it was in Lynx (a human body corrupted by FATE itself, and the stolen Dark Serge body disappears after that battle); there's no clear result about what happened with Lynx's Demi-Human body when Serge gets a new body. I wouldn't doubt that it was in FATE's power to bring back 7-y.o. Serge since it was by Lynx that he died in Another World (kept him in cold storage between the dimensions, if you will). With the Dragon God's victory, it's time to bring in the last resort; give Wazaki back his consciousness, reunite him with his dead son, let the power of his emotions energize FATE to create a new body, send it into El Nido as a means of bringing down its ancient foe. And yes! Well spotted with Kid's dagger; originally I designed him to have some combination of the swallow and scythe, and then Harle's throwing daggers, but then I thought "Why not Kid's dagger?"; brings it all around nicely. I'm still a Serge/Leena fan. :B
She does kinda look like Kida, now that I think about it. Her's was tricky because I didn't want to make a female Nikki, I wanted Marcella to be her own character. I also figure that Steena, a disciple of the dragons, might be allowed to live because of her past devotion; I thought about letting Fargo live, since he got the ship moving and all that, but I think it better if Steena lives.
I never evolved Pip, either, but I'm taking some creative license with this evolution, reasoning that the Dwarves are likely as bad as the humans with how they treat people and nature, but the humans do it "better", and probably did some experiments and cruel entertainment on him. I originally had Razzly in a slave-girl get-up, but I like the page-boy outfit more.
I love Draggy. :3
The idea behind the black melting pot was that they needed to escape the ire of the Dragon God, and so combined their powers together, but it went horribly wrong and stuff happened. Another idea I came up with is that Guile was cornered in Termina, bound and chained and thrown into the canal, his spirit met Greco's and Skelly and Mojo, and used his powerful magic to return as the Ghoul.
Years or thinking, about 3 or 4 days of sketching.

Oh I don't deny there could be ways Lynx's body would still be around in one form or another--as you saw in my story!--I just question how it could be found or used to create a new template for the dead Serge if FATE herself is gone. But I suppose even if she is, the databanks might still exist, and Lynx could use them to create Kit. And of course I love that you suggest Wazuki could have come back to himself and reunited with Serge. The idea of him as Lynx raising Kit is adorable and awesome. ^_^
I liked Serge with Leena when she wasn't being bossy and mean, just like I liked him with Kid when she wasn't being dickish and presumptuous. So I'm okay either way really.
Good, I always liked Steena. And yeah, the only way I can see Fargo being spared is because he's the father of two demi-humans and was in love with one (not to mention he helped restore Marbule).
Oh yes, the Dwarves are horrible, but sadly the humans could have been cruel to Pip too. And um...Razzly as a slave-girl? Ick.
Hmm, interesting. I can see either explanation working for the Ghoul.
Nice!
