Yeah, there usually is. Simply because of my layering process. A lot of artists do it actually, helps establish a stronger figure.

Hmm. Have you seen any of the works by the painter Salvador Dalí? Your color and bit of eerieness in this remind me of his work. You may be interested by his stuff. :)

Of course I know Dali, being in art school I pretty much have to. He's pretty cool (though his compositional ideas are very out there). I have always liked his environments now that you mention it, wonder if that subconsciously made its way in here...

awesome job! i lvoe the color shading and scene. the bg is awesome and i especially like those floating island thingies...they are islands right? well whatever they are this is amazingly well done. very nice job ^^

as to the immature response thing on a nude version. i personally would like to see it just cause im not a fan of bikinis. but in this particular pose and scene...i dont see anything immature about it...but of course there will be some idiot to run in and ruin it all by screaming "OOOOOHHH!! BOOBIES!!!" >.>

Thank you for the lovely comment (nice to see one that's longer than four words)! Yes those are floating islands in the background, apparently they're all over...wherever these people are from. Some fiendish plane or some such. Personally I'd love to put up the nude version but these character's do not belong to me and the owner requested that the nude versions be kept under wraps. I respect that; after all the relationships people form with there characters are pretty important. In an abstract sort of way, anyhow. Also; yes, you do always get the "can't keep it in his pants" kind of commenter who bugs the bejeesus out of me. Being in an art school you kind of come to really respect and see a certain beauty to the human body, seeing that trampled always irks me.

floating islands are awesome.i just got hooked on this game called Cavestory..all of which takes place on a floating island :P

well that's no problem, respecting the owner is definitely more important. cant ruin that relationship either.
it is funny though, even all of the naughty pics i have (all of which are furry thank you :P ) all have a respectable artistic level to them. i'm enough of a stickler to want actual art even in the mature stuff XD

its for PC actually its a pixel art game straight from japan...it had such a fan base that it was translated to english...very well in fact. the game is of an action nature and is a scrolling platform style kinda game. the story line is very deep and there are some fun side quests and even a few bonus unlockable levels and weapons.

this link should get you not only the translated version, but comes with the soundtrack (a key point of awesomeness in the game), some detailed concept art, a paper craft, a minigame that wasnt translated as well and thus i cannot figure out, and more. all in only like 65 MB.

i highly recommend it ^^ oh and of course...floating island fun times, but alas most fo teh stuff takes place inside the island.

I like how you put the attention into the sand around them. Looks more like they moved there than just appeared. The body composition is really well done for both of their positions. While it might seem weird to point out I like how you actually drew the bunching up of the black girls skin on her side, very detailed. Also like how neither of them is 'defying gravity.' The water is nifty as well. Doesn't look "flat."
