Star Wars Legends: Enlightenment

Episode 2


As Dash was slowly taking the egg towards the Outrider, the voice from before continued to echo in his head.

"You, human, are Ssi-ruu now. Take the egg to Elder Sh'tk'ith. He will know what to do."

As he walked listening to the voice of Father Ssi, his skin started to harden into scales which darkened into the darkest of black. His hands started to become clawed, his hands changing from having five digits to only three.

"My child, when you have corrected your form, you will be integrated into the glorious culture of the Ssi-ruuk. One day, there will be two powerful humans that will come close to our star cluster. When that day comes, you will be instructed to bring these two humans to the Ssi-ruuk. It is they that will save our race and bring us into the galaxy."

With a bit of a groan, Dash's face started to pull out into a long snout, various scaley spikes poking out at various points on his head. His teeth being either over or underbite depending on the positioning and his eyes changing a bright yellow color, an extra pair of eyelids forming on each eye. As his nose was pulled out,a pair of tongues, known as "scent tongues" grew in his nose, starting to flicker out to taste the air. It filled his mind strange sensations. Suddenly, something smelled good.

"Yes young Ssi-ruu. You are smelling a delicious Fft lizard. Why not give it a try? I doubt you will have anything appetizing to your new tastes on your ship."

At this, Dash pulled out his blaster and, with a stun setting, fired at some of the lizards before scooping their stunned bodies up and scarfing them down. He licked his non-existent lips at this as a bulge appeared in the back of his pants before it exploded into a long, black scaled tail.

"Yes my child. Doesn't this feel right? How did you even keep your balance without a tail? Now...you need help from your kind to finish your enlightenment. Go to them!"

Finally, Dash approached the Outrider, still carrying the egg.

If Leebo could have blinked he would have. Outside the outrider was a...creature. It stood on two human looking feet...but the whole body was covered in shiny black scales. It walked with a very slight hunch, due to the muscular tail waving behind it. What drew his attention next was the head.

The head was alien. It looked very reptilian. A long snout with spiny ridges, luminous yellow eyes rest under the ridges. But perhaps the strangest feature were two thin protrusions that sucked in and out of its nose, as if tasting the air. Finally, carried in an arm ending in three fingered clawed hands, was a multicolored egg....and it seemed to be wearing Dash's clothes!!!

"Unidentified creature, do step back from the ship or I will have to vaporize you." Leebo said through the ship's outboard comms.

"You Rustbucket, it's me!" the creature shouted in a rather musical voice, "Don't pretend you don't recognize the most dashing smuggler in the galaxy!"

Leebo was taken aback. This black scaled lizard man thought it was Dash? There was one way to find out. A game of questions. "If you are really Dash...you strange lizard thing...What did he destroy in Echo Base in order for us to make our escape?"

"An AT-ST," the lizard said. He flicked his scent tongues in irritation.

"Lucky guess alien. Next question. What was the name of the bounty hunter Dash defeated on Ord Mantell...and what was his favorite weapon?" Leebo asked smugly. No way could he get both.

"The IG-88 Droid. He favored the pulse cannon.", the creature responded, crossing his arms.

Leebo sincerely hoped he got this last one wrong. There was no way anyone but Dash would know this. "In the final battle, what did Dash Rendar destroy, and how did he escape?"

"Xizor's skyhook. We escaped by making a blind jump which landed us here. Are we done?"

Leebo opened the hatch and went to meet dash. The strange thing wearing his master's clothes stood there with the egg under his arms. "Dash??? What happened to you?" The lizard cocked his head as if he was listening to something only he could hear.

The voice of Ssi came through in Dash's head. "Be careful my child. Everything depends on your getting back to your fleet. This droid cannot know the truth. Tell him it is a sickness, and it will only get worse unless you get help."

"I caught something or another in there. Some sort of disease or something. I think only the people of this planet will be able to do anything about it," the lizard that was Dash responded.

With that Leebo took off. He stole occasional glances at Dash. The changed smuggler was not sitting, instead he chose to stand presumedly due to his tail. "Dash you seem to know where we are going. Which ship do we want in this unknown alien fleet?" Once again the mutated smuggler cocked his head.

"You want the biggest ship. In the center of the fleet. It is named the Shirwirr." Ssi told him.

Dash told Leebo that the biggest ship was probably the one they had to enter. Leebo seemed worried, but Dash assured him it would be okay. Of course, this just made Leebo question it more. As they approached the fleet the comm crackled.

"Screeetweeethonk!" An unintelligible line of musical gibberish came through. "Dash? I know almost every known language. I can't make anything of this. It sounded like R2-D2 short circuiting."

"Your new language my child. Hold on, I will adjust your ears." The voice of Ssi told Dash.

Dash's ears, or where the ears used to be, had a strange tingling sensation as Ssi told him this. He could now find he could understand what they were saying and what they had said, much like his Father implied.

{We have already powered down our weapons. Feel free to board if you wish. I bring a message directly from Father Ssi...and the fourth egg.}

There was a pause on the comm during which Leebo looked at Dash incredulously. "Master? What language where you speaking?"

"Relax, Leebo. I'm just trying to bluff my way in," Dash lied, rather convincingly.
