My own little OC.
Like most earth ponies, Alintha Rist is strong and confident.
Her cutie mark is a unicorns horn that has the power to cast magic. She channels the power through a gem she wears on her forehead to keep it focused. She's not very adept with using her magic, knowing only two spells that she's honed to perfection. The first is a pure blast of energy that she prefers to use as intimidation, and the other is the ability to bake pastries in a matter of seconds. Anything else she tries ends up as a random effect with varying degrees of success. (though a puff of smoke and magical sparkes is her most common result)
When not selling her baked goods in her downtime, she hires out as a mercenary of magical muscle, escorting expeditions to ancient ruins and prefers to team up with the "adventurous archaeologist" type of pony.

I have been following your art for years now. Let me say that from the wonderful haunting scenic views you have done recently, going back to your work with Altermeta, and the outstanding recent work with My Little Pony, you are the gem that channels the magic not from a horn but from your heart.

I also had an idea similar to this but instead of a female earth pony it was a male pegasus pony. My reasons why I came up with a character like that was because in the show there aren't any male alicorns (as of yet) or perhapse for some reason the creators of the show decided males can't be alicorns(hence why we haven't seen any male alicorns). Either way, I was trying to come up with a character that could somehow combine the abilities of a unicorn + pegasus without straight up being a alicorn(a pony with abilities that could be potentially cannon enough exist on the show).
After seeing the "Twilight's Kingdom" episode, when Tirek stole the ponies magic, their cutie marks were removed thus hinting(or flat out telling us) that cutie marks give the ponies their magic. At that point I thought it could be the cutie mark that gave him his magic abilities instead of the magic coming from a horn. And thus that was my solution to a more "cannon" version of a male alicorn.
But alas I guess I am a little bit late seeing how Noben now has a pony similar to the one I had thought up earlier and I really do think that if I was to try to post mine up now, I might be accused of copying your OC pony here.
