In today's episode, we get a certain insight into politics in the lands of the Pack of the Grey Horde, and it's not a particularly edifying one. Apparently, there has been a transition in power (hence an interregnum of some kind), and the new Alpha of the Pack and Grand Duke has a certain style about his communications that is, to put it one way, colourful.

Ooookay. Erik was surprised that there was a turnover, but not in the sense of 'Malcolm who?' so their Royal House hasn't changed. New fellow may have gotten in on the strength of 'Cedric keeps backing losing endeavors' and is flexing his muscles over it.
I do suspect that Elfhame is about to get an influx of wolves and that the Wolf Queen may suddenly find herself with actual subjects, to her dismay.
And what happens next? I can see several very interesting possibilities...

I can't see immigrating wolves actually becoming the Wolf Queen's subjects. That would imply she had a realm to rule over, and she rather emphatically doesn't want that...see her conversation with Gawain.
Not only that, but Adler and/or Gawain would have to create such a realm, and they have no particular reason to do that.
What I see is that Erik et al would find themselves as WW5's ...wards? Not slaves or servants, surely. In any event, I suspect they're headed for Elfhame.
Where they're in for a very rude awakening at the paws of the does.
