Careful combing of the comments has informed me that the reference is The Princess Bride. I have yet to watch it! Deary me... gonna have to help me rebuild that viewing list as I've forgotten too much, erf. Been seeing a weirdly large amount of references to the film lately, so I guess it's at the top of the new list.
