From pieces, to some of the construction to the finished, opalescant coolness... I'd painted the plates and tail-tip to try and get an opal effect- it seems to have worked out fairly well. My final tail will have my trademark floof on the end, but this one will do until I can make the better one. :)
EDIT: I'd forgotten why I don't like having pix of my backside... *chuckles* Who needs to see just how much junk I gots in me trunk?

*cackles, flickign the slobber back across your muzzle* Trust me, your drool is nothing compared to the strings of dribble tigers produce when they you're great to rub against... Awesome animals... I have cats. 'Nuff said, there. Anything fuzzy or soft and it becomes their new bed, if I let them lay on it. I have to keep my fabrics away from them because I don't want to have their hairs all over stuff that might be going into pieces for customers who are allergic. I'll be so glad when I can have my art-studio with a stock- or store-room where I can keep the animals out without traumatizing the poor guys- they just want a nice, cuddly thing to lay on, after all.
I adore my cats, but they need to stay off the fabric. Heh. Buggz and Squee have this game (Diva just watches, like the High Lady she is); if I lay material on the floor to cut, they see this as a great opportunity to try to slide under it... at a full run. Hilarious to watch, but frustrating when you're trying to cut pieces...
Floot? *checks her text* Nope, sez "FLOOF"- see? *chuckles* I liked how it turned out, for the most part. The glitch in the pattern made it twist rather a lot at the end, but now that I know what the problem is, I can fix the pattern so further tails shouldn't have that issue.
So I am older. Ha! *chuckles* Willow can look pretty awesome, too. Especially diamond willow- that stuff is gorgeous, with the weird shapes the wood takes at branching-points and the sweet colours... Don't have any myself, though. Just a couple of pine and poplar walking sticks and one that I recently found in the desert that I suspect might be mesquite- the wood is very hard and heavy, but a nice golden-white colour. It's a perfect shape for a hiking staff, so I used it on a hike and I'm now smoothing it down and fine-tuning the shape of it. Gonna put those little hiker's plaques you can get from the National Parks on it... See how many I can collect in a year or two of hiking trails with my Mate.
I do have one piece of lovely wood that's been aging in my room for several years. It's got this neat bend at the top that's nice and thick- been meaning to carve it into a dragon's head, with the the scales of his body curling down around the staff itself. It's going to look so cool when I finally do it...

if the wood has a sparkle to it
its mesquite the tree draws up silica with water into its tissues and its a mean wood to work with tools it will dull a saw blade in just a few passes and sparks like mad from that silica using just tung oil on it will bring out the deep blacks and rich honey colors the wood has
the willow we have is dead its a 95 yr old tree that reached its life expectancy its old and solid as a brick wall but dead
yes will halloween coming it would look awesome with a couple hanging bodies and some huge spiders and webs in it but we dont have the money
this bit was one of the limbs

Oooh, and you have a cane made of Dragon-tree wood? Coool. I love Dragon's Blood resin as incense- and it's such a lovely red colour... What does the wood look like, with sap like that? My cane is this neat mahogany thing from Indonesia- with a dragon carved on the handle, of course.
Thanks, sweetness! I've made some improvements to the design and now there's a good curving bend in the later one I did for
Give me time, and about fifty bucks, and you could have one by the New Year. If you want to wait, no worries, Ill be taking commissions for these and other costume things in the next little while: I could put your name on the top of the list, if you like. Gotta finish a plushie commission, two tails, a painting and a griffin head, first, then I'm working on my wedding gown. That's gonna be a challenge: I'm hoping for a bit of a Princess Amidala look for it and it needs to able to be worn with and without my dragon suit (may get to wear the suit at FC- both KaniS and I are going). Wedding gowns are supposed to be grand, and I've been waiting for my big day for over twenty-five years. Hmm, deep royal blue velvet, blue and cream-white duppioni silk and pearl appliques... Yum.
