Hello hello friends.
Keepin' busy on my side of the computer screen. And I've got a nice batch of commissions that I'm cooking up for
York_Indayla . I've kinda' been working on one, then another, and another, before finishing them off one at a time. It's been fun for me, but obviously, means that I don't have a whole bunch to dump at once. Of course, these won't just be sketches, either. BUT, gotta' start finishing them off to share with all you lovely people. So, case in point...
This is Lunatic. He sports an impressive physique, despite some... visible scars. I hadn't drawn a rain piece in years. I've missed it, because there's something relaxing about doing them -- in part, I'm sure, because I find rain itself relaxing. So, looking at this guy, knowing he's been through some stuff, I thought him sitting, at peace, in the rain would be a fun contrast.
I think it works.
Anyway, enjoy!
Character belongs to
Senzuko
Art belongs to me.
PS. I'm going to make this "General" viewing despite his obvious nakedness. I've seen more skin though on public tv these days, y'know?

I concur with this being a 'General' rating despite the lack of clothing. Time was, ladies lifting skirts to show ankles was the equivalent of flashing boobs in the hayday and fainted just touching a bodybuilder's bicep.
Anyways, I quickly checked through many of my graphic novel collections. Let me just say, that western artists have a many ways to show rain. Sadly, as I just noticed, sometimes the rain is beautifully done for maybe out of oversight, the characters in the panels seem to be immune to the effects of the rain, so to speak.
This pic shows him being struck by every individual pellet of rainwater, the damn appearance all over his body. And I hope you don't take this as blind praise, but I've spent hours imagining a segment of a graphic novel taking place in this context of raining scenery and character before I realized I should post a comment =P
Additionally it also depicts a formidable character despite his obvious handicap lacking an arm, akin to a character boasting and truly meaning it when he says that losing an arm only makes it an even fight.

I like how you point out in so many comics the artists who draw rain scenes often neglecting to make it look the the character is ACTUALLY being rained on. Often, they'll have the character with wet hair, sure, but still not a single drop of water actively hitting their body. It feels very much like those old cartoons (Like I wanna' say Scooby-Doo and the like) where it's very clear that the rain effect is added completely separate to the animation.
Anyway, that said, yeah, whenever I draw a rain scene, I make it a point that the character looks to be rained on. It's that special added movement to the piece, even with a character clearly sitting still, that kicks it to the next level of awesome.
So yeah, glad again, my efforts are well-received, heh heh.
