The Wolf Queen may be beginning to gain a deeper understanding of the position the Master was in when he intervened on her behalf. To see others in a similar plight and understand that you are somewhat responsible for their plight by actions that seemed like the best thing at the time and in fact still seem like the only actions that could be contemplated... it must be adding to the moody frame of mind that has been besetting her at times of late.
Poor Ooo-er... while we may have suspected, we now firmly see that she had a hope for something more in her relationship with her 'hero'... quite a blow to one who is now in a society that she is yet to understand or find her place in.
On the Mrs Fletcher front, it could be said that it is about time. The abuse of a child by someone who claims to be "protecting" the young from bad influences is NOT to be let slide no matter the rank of the perpetrator, especially if the action is taken simply to stamp authority against a child's parent. It is also lucky for Mrs Fletcher that the Wolf Queen may not have understood the "harlot" tag with which she was labelled... this may have led to a need for much magical healing if the fur so labelled had taken umbrage. In her urge to "put down" the only mel who seems to, in her eyes, have any real potential to diminish the established near total control she and her other Eldest have over the Vale, Mrs Fletcher seems to have lost sight of the fact that she is not First of Eldest or the keeper of this hearth and that there are boundaries that if crossed may leave her somewhat open to questioning of both actions and motive... not just by the other Eldest but also by the general community... those types of questions can erode the community faith in even the longest standing ruler or social structure.
Anastasia is right, the wolf mels will need to be managed as they come from a society that is almost an opposite of Elfhame... there will be much work to be done.
