I've been watching far too much Bleach lately (the Anime, you creature) and this is the inevitable result. Me drawing a vaguely related picture.
It's a Fox, with a sword (and knowing only the tiniest bit about the construction and components of swords, I reckon it's a nice (and nasty) design - though anyone who actually knows their shit could doubtless prove me wrong) in black robes (made to personal tastes in style, of course) and I'm quite pleased with the picture.
It's the first picture I've drawn in a while and it's nice to know that I'm still at least slightly above the level of a four year old's scribbles. Wonderful! I feel so good. I'm really not all that good at drawing, so it pleases me to be pleased by my own stuff with my low skill level. z: )

Interesting. The blade looks like a cross between a scimitar and one of those Egyptian swords. Definitely a slashing weapon, although you could stab with it if you had an easy shot. The blood gutter would break up the suction nicely when it came time to pull it out. The robes are pretty good, too. Keep the arms free, although the way they're slit down the side seems a little feminine...

When I was designing this blade, I was thinking two things, trickery and injury. z: )
You're right about it being primarily used for slashing, particulrly in mobile attacks, but not only that. I was thinking about how it might catch an opponent's sword whilst making a blocking move and hopefully leave them open.
As for stabbing and that blood channel, you follow my thoughts exactly apart from two things - the first being that triangular stab wounds don't close and the second being that the channel should sluice the blood out in a semi-spectacular manner. Which is always ...cool... z: )

Well, those garments have their uses. However, they're hardly's stylish in all or even most circumstances. Unless you're a charver or trendie... and you're neither. z: )
Whilst we're on topic by the way, I just had the brain jump-start connection that you were looking for suggestions for what to draw. I don't think something like this would be a particularly bad excercise, nor uninteresting. Just a suggestion, of course.
