all 4 of these hens are being broody (as in they all want to be mommies)
thing is they ALL had theur chicks already this spring (i let each hatch 3 eggs) and now winter is comming so i cannot let them hatch any new babies as winter is no time of year for little fuzzies.
so everyday my only non-broody hen shoves them out of the nest box to lay an egg in the box and then they all sit back in the box. only 1 hen ever even has the egg and the rest sit on nothing, and when i take the egg for my fridge everyday they STILL sit there on NOTHING.
i feel bad :( i waana let them hatch babies but they would not be born till late November and it will be wet and cold by then.
even so it is cute because they are crammed in there so tight and they all grump at me when i come for that egg XD

I have a silly question, could you get them some egg-sized and -shaped rocks to keep them busy over the winter? That way they get to sit on their 'eggs,' and you don't have any hatchlings turning into frozen kitty-toys.
After all, domestic chickens aren't known for being the sharpest knifes in the drawer. When it comes to sharpness, they might even be spoons.
