I used to use one back in my teen years, but they're rather bulky that they can't even fit in my pants pockets; thankfully I'm using a P&S style camera (and with a flip screen for taking selfies or showing myself when I'm videotaping), but the kind of band camcorders use is more secure when you need to hold it for extended periods of time when you're videotaping, whereas P&S ones use narrow wriststraps that are looser.
