A -very- unique recipe from
!
This one sounds absolutely nuts! But it actually tastes VERY good! This is originally one of those "absolutely nothing left in the pantry/fridge, and payday is still days off. What can I eat?!" sorts of meals.
Dead simple to make, and designed to use the sorts of things a money-strapped fur might have left laying about: the bit of crumbled chips in the bottom of the bag. A packet or two of mustard. A packet of grape jelly. A drip of hot sauce And the last hot dogs when you've already run out of buns.
A pack of franks costs 88 cents here at Walmart. The rest of it can be scratched together for about a quarter. But, despite all of that, this still ends up tasting good enough to make, even when you aren't scraping the bottom of the money barrel!
The grape jelly and mustard come together in a surprisingly savory sauce, with a nice touch of sweet to match with a bit of heat from the hot sauce. The salty crunched chips add a crispy/crunchy texture, while the salt pairs nicely with the sweetness in the sauce. Who'd a thunk it? *grins*
And it has enough of a weirdness quotient to even be worth some Geek Cred. *grins*
Disclaimer: Wuff has never actually eaten these while stoned, but has it on good authority that they taste pretty darn good that way too.
Disclaimer#2: Vrghr does not recommend nor condone getting stoned just to eat this!
Ingredients:
3 cheap Frankfurters, slip lengthwise
1 Tbs Yellow Mustard (~4-5 mustard packs?)
2 tsp Grape Jelly (approx 1-2 restaurant jelly packs)
1/2 tsp hot sauce
1 pat butter
Dash ground black pepper (about 2 pepper season packets)
~1/2 slightly crunched Potato Chips
Directions:
Melt the pat of butter in a hot skillet.
Fry the hot dogs in the butter on one side, until lots of dark fry marks appear (about 3-5 minutes)
Flip the dogs over and fry them on the other side.
While the dogs are frying, put a small pile of crunched potato chips on a plate.
When the other side of the dogs are also browned, remove them to the plate and place on top of the chips.
Put the grape jelly in the fry pan and stir about until it starts to melt.
Add the hot sauce, black pepper, and mustard. Mix together until all the jelly has dissolved and combined into a dark sauce.
Taste (Careful!! VERY hot!!) and if necessary, add a bit more mustard if it is too sweet for your tastes.
Spoon the sauce over the plated hot dogs.
Devour!
