Roz Gibson's original cover for chapter 4 of her graphic novel, and my revised layout alongside.
The scene depicted should make for an exciting cover - a moment of high tension about to erupt into violence - but something in the execution seemed off. Roz intended to reprint the entire novel and invited me to compose a new cover image. The scene itself was a good one, so I re-arranged the layout. A low dramatic angle, with the central figure a bit smaller, slightly crouched for action, while surrounded by menacing figures looming much larger in the foreground. The background in 3-point perspective proved troublesome, so my revised layout was discarded after a few attempts.
