Coping with Disabilities - Being 120% Cooler is off-and-running! But we need your help!
http://www.gofundme.com/cwdtp
Last year, "Coping with Disabilities Through Pony" founder, Matthew Palumbo, sold off a number of personal items to not only pay to ensure that the panel would serve as more than just a 50 minute spot in BronyCon, but also to aid in his own coping as he gradually loses his eyesight.
This year, we are asking if you could help Matthew and his team to ensure that what is presented at BronyCon 2015 has a much greater impact before, during, and after the panel.
Thank you for your support. Funds donated will go towards the following initiatives and supplemental materials:
1: Develop a Multimedia Presentation in which is both accessible as a PowerPoint presentation and an accessible .RTF document that can be freely be made available and accessible before, during, and after the presentation.
2: Acquire distributable flash / thumb drives that can be handed out, or sent out by request, to those who would benefit from having full access to the presentation materials along with supporting documentation in which provides helpful links, documents, and audio files that cannot be presented during the panel due to time limitations
3: Allow for the purchase of multiple copies of the inspirational story collection from 2014 in which can be freely distributed before and after the panel, or sent out to those interested in reading these internal, inspiring tales
4: Assist panelists and support staff to be physically present at BronyCon to distribute materials over the course of the three day convention as they advocate for how My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, the Brony fandom, and the art community can, and has, helped many with special needs discover and thrive through their talents
5: Our goal is to raise $1,500. Anything raised above this amount will be donated to the local Autism School in Carlisle, Pennsylvania
Please Help Support Us If You Can. That link to donate is

Thank You.

I have Autism, an I personally think that these schools are ment to segregate us from society, in my eyes, this is to treat our kind like second class citizens.
I've read about some of the practices of these schools. and many of these practices could be considered abuse.
We need an inclusive society for the Disability Communities, not these "special" schools where people are treated like we are less than human.
The true reality of our Society is, they are still the same scum who look for anyone they perceive as weak to discriminate against, and by putting Autistic Children in these "Special Schools" they are in the sights of these monsters who treat our kind like we are less than Human beings.
I will never support these "Schools"

I can understand your point of view. But please read what I've commented below.
This school is one I learned about through its very students before I even knew they were students at it. The staff is very caring and I have personally attended numerous events on behalf of the school, donated to the school, and advocated for it due to its kind treatment of all those who attend it. Class sizes are small and allow for a greater degree of individualized attention that I know I could've personally benefited from if I had such an option where I grew up.
There will always be bad examples, good examples, and neutral examples. I'd hope you can trust I'd never support a cause I felt was detrimental to anyone. My whole mission is to make the lives of everyone with special needs better and, in this case, the school in mention is one of those examples of one that does have staff in which go out of their way to make sure their students learn, cope, and excel beyond whatever societal views may be in existence while crushing negative, self-fulfilling prophecies.

Im not saying that there are bad schools. but schools like these also need to be inclusive.
if I ever donate to anything, I read about it before I decide. I do donate to Make-a-wish foundation whenever I can.
these schools for the blind are actually considered the first Disability rights programs before there was ever a Disability Rights Movement,
my biggest problem is that with some special schools and many Special Ed. rooms, many of these people are put there, and not all of them pushed to reach there potential. And many People with Special Needs have the capability to excel, but we lack the respect of our Society to even give us a chance. and ultimately, we are still living in a segregated world.

That is why it is my aim, along with my team, to help do something about that.
Have you seen the WIP Presentation yet? I'll link you if you haven't.
I'm trying to gather as many resources as I can to ensure parents of children with special needs don't fall into the trap of believing their child has limits that don't truly exist. It is also our aim make certain those who are of college age, or higher, know there are lots of great resources that are, for the most part, free to help them succeed.

I have not seen the WIP yet
I dont see Many MLP often, so I dont think I would understand if I did want o be part of it.
of course the only limit is our own minds (technically Society, though this can be resolved in our life time as long as we keep fighting for the inclusion)

Let me know if you feel this shows a solid effort towards making that progress you and I both aim to achieve in our lifetime.

And there's even more than that. :)
By the time this is all said-and-done, we'll have reference videos, an accessible .RTF file for those who may not have access to PowerPoint (Or who may rely on a screen reader like I do), and a collection of supplementary resources that will be included on our Weebly site and within freely distributed thumb-drives so anyone can access this year's, and last year's, presentation and advocacy efforts.
This is a cause that I, along with the rest of the team, firmly believe in. We just need to build up some funds to afford all the resources we wish to make available at no cost to those who could benefit from them. :)

This presentation is being done at the largest, most recognized, My Little Pony convention, BronyCon. So the Pony connection is there. All other resources go beyond the show to ensure that one need not be a Pony fan to benefit from all we're researching and getting together.
I came to know some of the school in mention's students through being a Brony. This is the school in which I have donated many items to in order to help it overcome being horrifically underfunded.
Next year, I will be in absolutely no position to help the school as I have. It does so much with so little to help people cope, adapt, and succeed beyond what any public school would ever have the time to make happen.
I, at one point, attended a special school for the blind and, very soon, will be attending another one. It is these specialized schools that help those of us with special needs have a chance in a world that, sadly, is not ready yet to truly welcome us in with open arms.
So, as I truly do not ever want to take advantage of anyone, I'd like to know if we exceed our goal, I can help the school through a monetary donation so the 2015 - 2016 year will be able to purchase the supplementary materials it needs to best provide individual motivation to succeed despite what society may ever say, or do, to those who, like me, never asked to be born different.

Oh, goodness, yes. Between putting the panel together, attempting to return to work, prepare for guide dog training, and working on the "Fallen Angel" series, I've definitely got my little hands busy.
Though, it's efforts like this that allow me to help further prove that individuals with special needs can do far more than our poorly educated society would ever know otherwise.
