I would like sunflowers more if it wasn't for the mental images of a school bus with a 1/2" thick layer of sopping wet spit soaked sunflower seed shells covering the floors and cushions when I was in school.

I'm glad you got to have a family get-together for the day. Personally, I think folks that put an emphasis on the importance of family do better all around as individuals. Just my opinion, but I've seen it in action more than once.

I really like the way this is lit and composed. Even though very little of the sky is visible, the way it looks sets a mood...it gives me the impression of a sunflower out in the field, lit by the sun poking through a break in some heavy clouds that indicate approaching rain, on a very hazy and muggy summer day. Granted, that's all an illusion with the flower being in your back yard, but that's still the impression it gives me. Well done!
