If I remember correctly, some parts of the TPP reddit considered Alpha and "Zexy" (the Torchic chosen as the Starter in TPP Emerald) to have had a sorta brotherly bond, or something, and that when Zexy was "released to the PC", Alpha tried to live up to Zexy's reputation.
