I'm of two minds - on the one hand, I thought the plain clothes you drew in the preliminary draft were more heartwrenching; otoh the gear you drew is awfully neat :D

The thought of either of them fighting in a war and being shot is piteous.

That was just me blocking in their upper bodies while being too lazy to bother with such negligible anatomical intricacies as "chest" or "shoulders".

There's a striking contrast between their cute eye (and S'Kei's running shoes - great idea IMO) and the fact they're child soldiers.

I can't help to find them cute, even though that pic is depressing at the same time

Such a heartbreaking picture... But admittedly well done! I like the almost tangible stillness in the scene, and you can almost hear the occasional burst of gunfire or mortar fire in the background.
Nice weapons, too! Looks kinda like a H&K USP with a laser sight on the right, and the rifle on the left is interesting... It's got a similar stock to an M249 SAW, but with a muzzle brake like the Barrett M82 or M107. (Sorry, I have a thing for guns. )

*scrutinises own picture* Hmm...I was thinking of a real gun for the rifle, but I'll be damned if I can remember which one...but yeah, it probably was a M somethingorother. With guns I usually just pick out interesting bits (like nice muzzle brakes) and make up the rest as I go along <:p The pistol I bullshitted my way through, for example; I'm glad it's reminiscent of a real article :)
